Tambellini signed a contract with Djurgardens IF of the Swedish Hockey League on Friday, TSN reports. Tambellini spent four seasons in Europe before signing a one-year, two-way contract with the Lightning last summer. A first-round pick in 2003, Tambellini enjoyed a successful campaign with AHL Syracuse this past season, scoring 29 goals and setting up 20 more in 65 games, though the parent club did not end up utilizing him for a single game. Tambellini is 32 years old and it appears that his heart is set on playing overseas.

Tambellini has left the Canucks to play for Zurich of the Swiss League, according to The Vancouver Province. He signed a three-year deal.
The Canucks are expected to let Tambellini hit the open market when free agency opens Friday, the Vancouver Sun reports.
