  • Shannon returns as healthy scratch

News: Senators C Ryan Shannon, who missed Tuesday's game with the flu, was recovered in time for Thursday's game against the Hurricanes. However, he was made a healthy scratch by coach Cory Clouston.
Analysis: Shannon doesn't have a point in 10 games following the Olympic break, so it's not surprising he was put in the press box. The flu can't be blamed for his recent struggles since Shannon has been in a funk all season. He has minimal Fantasy appeal when healthy.
  • Shannon sidelined by the flu

News: Senators C Ryan Shannon was scratched from Tuesday's game against the Capitals because of the flu. He is day to day.
Analysis: Shannon doesn't have a point in 10 games following the Olympic break. The flu can't be blamed for his recent struggles since Shannon has been in a funk all season. He has minimal Fantasy appeal when healthy.
  • Shannon nets two assists, plus-2

News: Senators C Ryan Shannon tallied a pair of assists and finished at plus-2 on Wednesday against the Sabres. It was his third multi-assist game of the season.
Analysis: Shannon has moved up to the team's second line with Mike Fisher and Alexei Kovalev in the absence of Nick Foligno, who broke his leg on Saturday against Montreal. Shannon did well earlier in the year when he played alongside Fisher and Kovalev, so this is nothing new. He could be a nice stopgap Fantasy option, if Shannon emerges as a regular multi-point threat.
  • Shannon has first point in nine games

News: Senators C Ryan Shannon scored a goal during Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks. Shannon made it 2-0 at 12:31 when he redirected Peter Regin's centering pass from the left side beyond Cristobal Huet for his fifth goal. It was his first point in nine games since totaling three assists on Jan. 3.
Analysis: Shannon was a real spark for the Senators in late December and to begin January. We had hope it would be the start of his second-half surge. Unfortunately, Shannon then went back into an offensive lull. Shannon is a low-end Fantasy option until he shows us long-term success.
  • Shannon has trio of assists

News: Senators C Ryan Shannon tallied three assists and finished at plus-4 on Sunday against the Flyers. It was his second multi-assist game of the season. Shannon has four goals and seven points in his last five games.
Analysis: It's great to see Shannon get on a roll since he was great down the stretch for Ottawa in 2008-09. Shannon knows coach Cory Clouston's system well and has the skills to succeed in Ottawa. He is getting some extra scoring chances with Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson sidelined. Still, Shannon is a low-end Fantasy option until he shows us long-term success.
  • Luck is finally on Shannon's side

News: Ryan Shannon scored twice for Ottawa during a 4-3 loss to the Avalanche on Wednesday. Shannon opened the scoring with his third goal 8:32 into the first and capped the scoring with his fourth goal 14:09 into the third. Shannon has four goals in the last three games. "All the bounces I missed at the beginning of the year are going my way now. I don't want to talk about it," Shannon said, fearful of jinxing himself.

  • Shannon scores against Montreal

News: Ottawa C Ryan Shannon scored a goal on Monday in a 4-2 win over the Canadiens. Shannon's goal came on a power play with an assist from Peter Regin. It was Shannon's second goal of the season.
Analysis: Shannon's production has been plain awful this season, with only two goals and five assists halfway through the campaign. He is only worth having active in the deepest of formats unless he can seriously turn things around in the second half of the season.
  • Shannon searching for first goal

News: Senators C Ryan Shannon failed to record a point and finished at even in 7:28 of ice time on Thursday against the Flyers. He also spent two minutes in the penalty box. Shannon has no goals on the season and only two points in his last eight games.
Analysis: We are completely stunned by Shannon's poor production in 2009-10. Here is a guy that thrived under coach Cory Clouston in the minors last season and then did the same thing with the Senators when Clouston took over behind the bench. He was expected to contribute on a regular basis this season, but he hasn't even come close. Shannon is not worth using in Fantasy.
  • Shannon dresses for Monday's game

News: Senators C Ryan Shannon was back in the lineup Monday against the Penguins after missing three games with an upper-body injury. He had no points in 12:39 of ice time.
Analysis: Shannon is a good fit for coach Cory Clouston's system and can be a nice scoring option on the wing. However, he has low-end Fantasy appeal to start the season.
  • Shannon will play on Monday

News: The Senators official Web site reports that C Ryan Shannon will return to action Monday after missing a few games with an upper body injury.
Analysis: Shannon was a great spark down the stretch for Ottawa in 2008-09 when Cory Clouston took over as head coach. Shannon's late-season run landed him a spot on the team out of training camp. He has the talent to make some noise in Clouston's system, but just has low-end Fantasy appeal for now.
