Hurricanes' Chris Terry: Frequent healthy scratch for Canes this season

Terry played in the Hurricanes' last two games before the All-Star break. Prior to that, he had been a healthy scratch for six consecutive games. Terry had a somewhat productive season last year with 20 points in just 57 games, however he's fallen further down the depth chart this season and can't seem to secure himself a regular spot in the lineup these days. He is averaging just 10:37 in ice time playing on the Canes' fourth line and doesn't warrant much fantasy consideration in most standard formats.

Hurricanes' Chris Terry: Returns to lineup following benching

Terry returned to the lineup for Saturday's 3-1 win against the Devils after serving the previous two games as a healthy scratch. He did not register a point and had a single shot on goal in 10:02 of ice time. Terry has just three goals in 30 games this season, and doesn't figure to come anywhere close to the 20 points he posted in just 57 games last season. Back in November, he saw a brief stint skating on the team's second line, but more recently was bumped down to more of a bottom-six role. As such, he has minimal fantasy value at this time.

Hurricanes' Chris Terry: Scores rare goal in losing effort vs. Rangers

Terry scored his third point of the season, notching a third-period goal in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers. Playing on the Canes' fourth line where he routinely sees fewer than 10 minutes of ice time per night, Terry does not offer much by way of fantasy value in most formats.

Hurricanes' Chris Terry: Struggling to generate offense

Terry was held off the scoresheet for the third consecutive game Friday against the Stars. He has just a pair of goals in 13 contests so far this season. Terry has really been struggling to generate offense this year, skating primarily on the second line with Jordan Staal and Nathan Gerbe. Following a career-high 20 points in 57 games last season, there was some optimism coming into this year that the 20-year-old Terry would continue to progress as a top-six forward, but so far that has failed to materialize. As such, he deserves attention in the deepest of fantasy formats only.

  • Canes Ink Terry To One-Year Deal

News: Chris Terry signed a one-year, $875,000 deal with the Hurricanes on Thursday, TSN's Frank Seravalli reports.
Analysis: Chris Terry provided the Canes with career-bests in games played (57) and total points (20) in the 2014-15 season, proving to Carolina that the he was worth keeping around another year. He'll look to take another leap forward in his age-26 season.
  • Two Points For Canes' Terry

News: Chris Terry scored one of the Hurricanes' goals and assisted on the other Tuesday in a 3-2 loss to Detroit.
Analysis: At the time, Chris Terry's 11th goal and 20th point of the year gave Carolina a 2-1 lead late in the second period, but the 'Canes were unable to hold on. It was no fault of Terry's, though, as he finished plus-2 on the evening. He owns only 20 points on the season, but Terry's been fairly productive of late, having notched six of those in the last seven games.
  • Canes' Terry Spoils Panthers' Shutout Bid

News: Chris Terry's goal with 1:19 remaining in the third period went down as the Hurricanes' lone tally of the night in a 6-1 loss to the Panthers on Thursday.
Analysis: The tally was largely inconsequential with the Panthers in command of the match, but it nonetheless extends Chris Terry's point streak to four games. A frequent healthy scratch this season, Terry has probably solidified a spot in the lineup at this point, but given his modest overall production (10 goals, eight assists in 52 games), it's hard to imagine him delivering much more value the rest of the way.
  • Carolina's Terry Gets Two Points

News: Chris Terry chipped in a goal and an assist Thursday against the Stars, finishing plus-2 despite the 'Canes taking a 5-3 loss.
Analysis: A nice game for Chris Terry on a night when most of his teammates had bad games, but performances like this have been too few and far between for the talented winger, who'll turn 26 next month.
  • Canes' Terry Contributes In Win Over Isles

News: Chris Terry recorded an assist during Saturday's 5-3 win over the Islanders. It was his first game back in the lineup after missing the previous four contests as a healthy scratch.
Analysis: With 11 points in 38 games, Chris Terry has been fairly productive when he's been in the lineup, but given that he's frequently watching from the press box, it's hard to recommend him. When he does play, he typically sees fourth-line minutes of 10-12 minutes per game, which is a further drag on his fantasy value. Go with another option if you have one.
  • Canes' Terry Watching From Press Box

News: Chris Terry has been a healthy scratch the past three games.
Analysis: The Hurricanes currently have no injuries to any of their regular forwards, which makes Chris Terry the odd man out. He has just nine points in 35 games this season, and does not make for a good fantasy option in most standard formats - especially while he's watching from the bench.
