Canucks' Richard Bachman: Reassigned by Canucks

Bachman was reassigned to AHL Utica on Monday. Bachman saw just one start in net during his time with the Canucks, allowing three goals on 31 shots but picking up the victory. He will now return to AHL Utica with Jacob Markstrom done with his conditioning stint, and the 28-year-old netminder will once again serve as organizational depth.

Canucks' Richard Bachman: Stops 28 shots for first win

Bachman stopped 28 of 31 shots for his first win of the season Friday against Arizona. It was also the first game in a Canucks game for Bachman, who is currently backing up Ryan Miller with Jacob Markstrom sidelined. Bachman is a decent backup goaltender, but Ryan Miller is a workhorse and Markstrom is going to be looking to make a push this season, so unless injuries hit, don't expect to see much more of Bachman.

Canucks' Richard Bachman: Starting Friday against Arizona

Bachman will be between the pipes in Friday's game against the Coyotes, Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun reports. Bachman will be in the crease Friday primarily in order to give starting goaltender Ryan Miller a rest, as Miller has started every single one of the Canucks' first ten games this season. Bachman was relatively solid with Edmonton last season, posting a 3-2-0 record with a 2.84 GAA and .911 save percentage. On Friday he draws into a matchup against a Coyotes team that has averaged 2.70 goals scored per game thus far this season.

  • Called-up by parent club Wednesday

News: Richard Bachman was recalled from AHL Utica on Wednesday in the wake of an injury to Jacob Markstrom, who has sustained a lower-body ailment, Iain MacIntyre of The Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Richard Bachman will slot in as the backup to No. 1 goalie Ryan Miller in Wednesday night's season opener against the Flames. Last season, Bachman made his way into six games with the Oilers, but primarily saw time with its minor league affiliate AHL Oklahoma City, recording a 2.38 GAA and .918 save percentage.
  • Canucks Sign Bachman

News: The Canucks signed Richard Bachman to a two-year deal on Wednesday, reports.
Analysis: Richard Bachman, who went 3-2-0 with a 2.84 GAA and .911 save percentage in seven games with the Oilers last season, gives the Canucks some added netminding depth (to go along with Jacob Markstrom ) behind starter Ryan Miller.
  • Oilers Reassign Bachman

News: Richard Bachman was reassigned to AHL Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
Analysis: The move surely wasn't for performance-based reasons, as Richard Bachman has led the Oilers to wins in his last three starts while conceding a total of three goals. He missed some time prior to Tuesday's win over the Kings due to a death in the family, and now he's set to celebrate the miracle of life, as his wife is due to give birth Sunday. With the Oilers' regular season set to end Saturday, assigning Bachman to Oklahoma City will allow him to play in the AHL postseason once he gets back from paternity leave. The Oilers recalled Laurent Brossoit from Oklahoma City to fill out their goalie ranks in place of Bachman.
  • Oilers' Bachman Returns Victorious

News: Richard Bachman, making his return after nearly a week away due to a death in the family, stopped 25 of 27 shots to deliver a 4-2 win over Los Angeles.
Analysis: That's three straight wins sandwiched around the absence for Richard Bachman, and they've come with about as strong a stretch of netminding -- three total goals in those three games -- as the Oilers have gotten out of their goalies all year long. Don't be terribly surprised if they stick with Bachman for both of the season's final games; after all, what do they have to lose? At this point, the Oilers can neither improve nor worsen their position in the standings, as they're a lock to finish with the NHL's third-worst record.
  • Oilers' Bachman Set To Start Tuesday

News: Richard Bachman (personal) is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Kings, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Analysis: In his last game action with the Oilers, this past Monday, Richard Bachman won his second straight start by stopping 29 of 30 shots in a 4-1 victory over Colorado. Since then, the Oilers have lost their last three games, by a combined tally of 17-3.
  • Oilers' Bachman Likely To Start Tuesday

News: Coach Todd Nelson indicated Monday that he is "leaning" toward starting Richard Bachman (personal) on Tuesday against the Kings, 630 CHED's Bob Stauffer reports.
Analysis: Richard Bachman returned to the Oilers on Monday following his absence due to a death in the family this past week. In his last action with the team, this past Monday, Bachman won his second straight start by turning away 29 of 30 shots in a 4-1 win over the Avs.
  • Oilers' Bachman Still Away From Team

News: Richard Bachman (personal) remained absent from the Oilers' morning skate, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Richard Bachman left the Oilers earlier this week due to a death in the family and has yet to rejoin the squad. With just one week remaining on the season, it's possible that Bachman will just stay on bereavement leave the rest of the way. The personal tragedy came at an unfortunate time for Bachman, who had impressed with back-to-back victories against the Stars and Avalanche before his departure from the Oilers.
