Ducks' Korbinian Holzer: Draws into lineup on Monday

Josh Manson (illness) will be sitting out Monday evening's game with flu like symptoms and Holzer will draw into the lineup for Anaheim's road tilt against the Hurricanes as a result, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. This will be the eighth appearance of the season for Holzer. The 27-year-old German may or may not see more time going forward depending on the severity of Manson's illness. Following Monday evening's game in Carolina, Anaheim's next game will be Tuesday night in Nashville against the Predators, and if Manson doesn't recover quickly Holzer could well be in line for more playing time in that contest as well.

Ducks' Korbinian Holzer: Recalled from AHL San Diego

Holzer was recalled from AHL San Diego on Sunday. There's no indication that any of the Ducks' blueliners suffered an injury, so Holzer will likely just serve as the seventh defenseman for the Ducks upcoming road trip.

Ducks' Korbinian Holzer: Reassigned to AHL San Diego

Holzer was reassigned to San Diego on the AHL on Saturday. Holzer has had a rough go of it in his short career as a Duck. After not dressing for a single game for them last season, he finally got to see some ice this time around, as he dressed for seven games with the team facing some injury trouble. The stint was short-lived, however, as he now hasn't played since the fourth of November. Holzer will start to see some consistent ice time in San Diego, and will hopefully be able to find the game that prompted Anaheim to trade for him last season.

Ducks' Korbinian Holzer: Registers first point as a Duck

Holzer assisted on Chris Stewart's second period tally in Sunday's win over the Preds. The assist was a long time coming for the native of Germany, who hadn't registered a point since February 21, when he was still a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. After not suiting up for a single game with the Ducks last season after being acquired by the team at the trade deadline, Holzer has now played in six of the team's 11 contests this season. However, with Josh Manson's return from injury on the horizon, Holzer could end up seeing less ice in the near future.

Ducks' Korbinian Holzer: Called up from minors

Holzer has been called up from the minors, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. The Ducks have had to shore up its defense with blueliners Clayton Stoner (lower body) and Simon Despres (upper body) dealing with injuries. Holzer and Shea Theodore will be on hand in case the aforementioned blueliners are unable to suit up for a tough matchup against the Wild on Sunday.

  • Resumes skating Thursday

News: Korbinian Holzer (head) resumed skating Thursday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Korbinian Holzer reportedly suffered a black eye as a result of being hit from Sharks' tough guy Frazer McLaren during last Saturday's game. Holzer is physical in his own right but has limited upside based on an output of two goals and seven assists through 58 NHL Games, all of which took place in the Maple Leafs' organization.
  • Ducks' Holzer Misses Practice

News: Korbinian Holzer (upper-body) did not practice Monday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Korbinian Holzer took a hit from Frazer McLaren in the first period of Saturday's preseason contest against the Sharks and did not return to the game. It isn't clear how severe the injury is yet, but Holzer was likely a long shot to secure an Opening Night roster spot with the big club anyway, so his chances of doing so shouldn't be adversely effected by the ailment. The team should provide and update on his status in the coming days.
  • Ducks Sign Holzer

News: The Ducks signed Korbinian Holzer to a one-year, $750,000 contract on Thursday.
Analysis: Korbinian Holzer, who the Ducks acquired this past March in a trade with Toronto, saw action in 34 NHL games last season (all with the Leafs), recording six assists and 25 PIM in the process. He'll continue to provide the Anaheim blue line with depth this coming season.
  • Ducks' Holzer Still Out

News: Korbinian Holzer (concussion) won't play Monday against the Canucks, Helene Elliott of the L.A. Times reports.
Analysis: Consider Korbinian Holzer day-to-day as Wednesday's game against the Flames approaches.
  • Ducks' Holzer Skates With Team

News: Korbinian Holzer (concussion) skated with the Ducks at Friday's morning session, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Analysis: The concussion has prevented Korbinian Holzer from suiting up with the Ducks since his Mar. 2 acquisition from the Maple Leafs, but it looks like he's almost fully recovered from the head injury. It doesn't sound as though he'll join the lineup for Friday's game against the Penguins, but he could be ready to go in advance of Monday's tilt with the Canucks.
