• Resumes skating Thursday

News: Korbinian Holzer (head) resumed skating Thursday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Korbinian Holzer reportedly suffered a black eye as a result of being hit from Sharks' tough guy Frazer McLaren during last Saturday's game. Holzer is physical in his own right but has limited upside based on an output of two goals and seven assists through 58 NHL Games, all of which took place in the Maple Leafs' organization.
  • Ducks' Holzer Misses Practice

News: Korbinian Holzer (upper-body) did not practice Monday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Korbinian Holzer took a hit from Frazer McLaren in the first period of Saturday's preseason contest against the Sharks and did not return to the game. It isn't clear how severe the injury is yet, but Holzer was likely a long shot to secure an Opening Night roster spot with the big club anyway, so his chances of doing so shouldn't be adversely effected by the ailment. The team should provide and update on his status in the coming days.
  • Ducks Sign Holzer

News: The Ducks signed Korbinian Holzer to a one-year, $750,000 contract on Thursday.
Analysis: Korbinian Holzer, who the Ducks acquired this past March in a trade with Toronto, saw action in 34 NHL games last season (all with the Leafs), recording six assists and 25 PIM in the process. He'll continue to provide the Anaheim blue line with depth this coming season.
  • Ducks' Holzer Still Out

News: Korbinian Holzer (concussion) won't play Monday against the Canucks, Helene Elliott of the L.A. Times reports.
Analysis: Consider Korbinian Holzer day-to-day as Wednesday's game against the Flames approaches.
  • Ducks' Holzer Skates With Team

News: Korbinian Holzer (concussion) skated with the Ducks at Friday's morning session, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Analysis: The concussion has prevented Korbinian Holzer from suiting up with the Ducks since his Mar. 2 acquisition from the Maple Leafs, but it looks like he's almost fully recovered from the head injury. It doesn't sound as though he'll join the lineup for Friday's game against the Penguins, but he could be ready to go in advance of Monday's tilt with the Canucks.
  • Ducks Acquire Holzer From Leafs

News: Korbinian Holzer (concussion) was traded to the Ducks on Monday in exchange for defenseman Eric Brewer and a 2016 fifth-round draft pick, James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: Korbinian Holzer sustained a concussion over the weekend in what would go down as his final game as a member of the Leafs, so don't expect him to make an impact with the Ducks in the near future. In fact, given the depth of Anaheim's blue line, it's highly likely that Holzer reports to AHL Norfolk once he's healthy. The deal was consummated mostly out of the Ducks' desire to shed Brewer's $3.75 million cap hit, which the Leafs were more than willing to take on in order to net the free draft pick.
  • Leafs' Holzer Has Concussion

News: Korbinian Holzer has been diagnosed with a concussion, and he did not travel with the team to Florida, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
Analysis: Tim Erixon is expected to chew up the extra ice time on the Leafs' blue line in Korbinian Holzer's absence. For now, an IR move hasn't been made, but given the nature of the injury, Holzer could miss additional time.
  • Leafs' Holzer Suffers Upper Body Injury

News: Korbinian Holzer left Sunday's game against the Capitals with an upper body injury, TSN's Jonas Siegel reports.
Analysis: The injury limited Korbinian Holzer to 33 seconds of ice time, and the Leafs allowed a goal during his lone shift. If Holzer can't play in Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Tim Erixon may rejoin the lineup.
  • Leafs' Holzer Tallies Rare Assist

News: Korbinian Holzer registered an assist in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Korbinian Holzer only has five assists for his only points in 27 games this season. It's safe to regard him as a shutdown defender for the Maple Leafs, a team hovering around the basement of the Atlantic Division.
  • Leafs Recall Holzer

News: The Maple Leafs recalled Korbinian Holzer from AHL Toronto on Monday, David Alter of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Korbinian Holzer will come up to the Leafs to fill in for Roman Polak (ankle), who is expected to miss significant time. The blueliner has two assists in nine games this season with AHL Toronto, and provides more of a physical presence than scoring ability.
