      Blues' Jaden Schwartz: Out at least 12 weeks after ankle surgery

      Schwartz will miss at least 12 weeks after receiving surgery on a fractured left ankle, Andrew Allsman of KMOV reports. This is rough for the 23-year-old Schwartz, who will lose about three months of time on the ice for a freak accident in practice when he reportedly collided with a goal post. The Blues have already called up Ty Rattie from the AHL Chicago Wolves to replace him, but this is yet another blow to an already injury-laden team.

      Blues' Jaden Schwartz: Injures left leg Friday

      Schwartz sustained an injury to his left leg after taking a "nasty spill" in practice Friday, Andrew Allsman of KMOV.com reports. We won't jump to conclusions as to the severity of the injury, but it's the last thing the Blues want to hear, as high-profile playmaker Paul Stastny recently went down with a broken right foot, top center prospect Robby Fabbri is still trying to get over a concussion, and Patrik Berglund, yet another center, has been on the IR since Oct. 6 with a shoulder ailment. Schwartz has registered four assists to complement a plus-4 rating through seven games this season.

      St. Louis Blues' Jaden Schwartz Collects Two Assists in Win Thursday

      Schwartz assisted on the game-winning goal and the empty-netter in Thursday's Opener against Edmonton. Schwartz finished with a plus-2 rating and had two shots while playing 16:23. He got the secondary helper on Robby Fabbri's game-winner and and his second from Troy Brouwer before the buzzer sounded. Schwartz was a big part of the "STL" line from last season, but managed to keep the scoring up despite Vladimir Tarasenko's move to the first line. As long as linemate Jori Lehtera continues to make crisp passes, Schwartz will keep tallying assists.
