  • Placed on waivers

News: Raphael Diaz was placed on waivers, reports Andrew Gross of The Record.
Analysis: More a necessary deed than a preferred transaction for the team as they cut the roster down to 23, the move allows the organization to protect Dylan McIlrath from the very same process. While most observers felt Raphael Diaz outplayed Kevin Klein in the preseason and the team brass is rumored to be actively seeking trades to loosen the roster and salary cap, it appears Diaz will join Hartford of the AHL when and if he clears waivers.
  • Diaz Joins Rangers

News: The Rangers signed Raphael Diaz to a one-year, $700,000 contract Wednesday, NJ.com reports.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz, who notched four points in 56 games this past season for the Flames, joins the Rangers for a second stint with the team. He'll boost the Blueshirts' blue line depth in 2015-16, but the 29-year-old remains a break or two away from fantasy consideration.
  • Flames' Diaz Set To Return

News: Raphael Diaz (lower body) is slated to play Tuesday against the Ducks, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Based on the team's pre-game skate, Raphael Diaz -- who last suited up on April 2 -- figures to work on the Flames' third defensive pairing Tuesday, along with David Schlemko.
  • Flames' Diaz Skates Sunday

News: Raphael Diaz participated in morning skate Sunday, the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz has not played since April 2nd, but with three consecutive practices under his belt, it looks like his return is near. While he won't necessarily be ready to go for Sunday night's game, it would be a surprise if he did not participate in this series.
  • Flames' Diaz Practices Again On Saturday

News: Raphael Diaz (lower body) fully participated in the Flames' practice on Saturday.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz has now logged full participation in back-to-back practices, and has a legitimate chance of returning to Calgary's lineup on Sunday for Game 2 of the Flames' series with Anaheim. Calgary should provide an update on his status prior to puck drop on Sunday.
  • Flames' Diaz (Lower Body) Practices Friday

News: Raphael Diaz (lower body) took part in an optional practice Friday, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz continues to work his way back from a lower-body injury that has held him out for an extended period of time. It's unclear if or when he will return this season, but it could come this series if all goes well.
  • Diaz Joining Flames For Trip

News: Raphael Diaz (lower body) traveled with the Flames to Anaheim for Thursday's Game 1, Roger Millions of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz won't be a candidate to play Thursday, but the fact that he's traveling with the team suggests he might be ready to resume skating. Though the 29-year-old hasn't played since April 2, he could be an option later in the series if he's able to get in a few practices over the next few days.
  • Flames' Diaz Dealing With Lower-Body Injury

News: Raphael Diaz has been out since April 2 with a lower-body injury, the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz has been unable to resume skating with the Flames yet and looks doubtful to be a contributor during the team's first-round series with the Canucks. Corey Potter has been filling his spot on the Flames' third pairing over the last few weeks.
  • Flames' Diaz Unlikely To Play Tuesday

News: Raphael Diaz (undisclosed) isn't likely to play Tuesday against the Coyotes, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz didn't skate on a regular pairing during the Flames' morning skate, so Corey Potter will remain in the lineup Tuesday at his expense. It's unclear whether Diaz will be ready to go for either of the team's two remaining games during the regular season.
  • Flames' Diaz Out Saturday

News: Raphael Diaz (undisclosed) will not play Saturday against the Oilers, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz will be replaced by Corey Potter after he suffered the injury during Thursday's loss to the Blues. The Flames are listing Diaz as day-to-day.
