Bruins' Seth Griffith: Sent to AHL

The Bruins have assigned Griffith (knee) to AHL Providence. Griffith -- who suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee back on Sept. 20 -- no longer carries an injured/non-roster status and is thus eligible to resume play at the AHL level. Though Griffith recorded six goals and 10 points in 30 NHL games with the Bruins last season, he finished up the campaign with Providence and that's where his current campaign will commence. Once he has some games under his belt though, Griffith figures to be on the B's short-list of call-ups when injuries hit the big club up front.

    • Resumes skating

News: Seth Griffith (knee) has resumed skating, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: Seth Griffith has been out since suffering an MCL strain early in training camp, but he's now working his way back toward a return to action. Once he's ready to roll, look for him to skate for AHL Providence out of the gate, with an in-season call-up a plausible scenario.
    • Bruins Send Griffith To AHL

News: The Bruins have assigned Seth Griffith to AHL Providence, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Seth Griffith, who has recorded six goals and 10 points in 30 games with the Bruins this season, is a candidate for another recall before too long, but for the time being, the 22-year-old winger will benefit from seeing regular ice time at the AHL level.
    • Bruins' Griffith Nabs Goal In Return

News: Seth Griffith tallied a power-play goal in his return to the lineup Monday versus the Red Wings.
Analysis: Injuries to Milan Lucic and Patrice Bergeron allowed Seth Griffith to play in his first game since Dec. 19. While he was able to make the most out of his 8:56 of action, Griffith will likely return to healthy scratch duty once Bergeron or Lucic recover from their injuries.
    • Bruins' Griffith Sits

News: Seth Griffith was a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Kings, reports.
Analysis: Seth Griffith last suited up for the B's this past Friday against the Jets, though on the heels of back-to-back losses, it's possible that he could return to the team's forward mix as soon as Thursday against the Sharks.
    • Bruins Recall Griffith

News: Seth Griffith was recalled from AHL Providence.
Analysis: As one of the Bruins' few forwards with minor league options, Seth Griffith was sent down to Providence prior to Monday's game to clear room for Brad Marchand (undisclosed) to return from IR. Griffith figures to hold down a regular role with the Bruins going forward, but he'll need to get over his recent point slide in order to keep receiving around 15 minutes per game.
    • Bruins Reassign Griffith

News: The Bruins reassigned Seth Griffith to AHL Providence on Monday, Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: The Bruins activated Brad Marchand (undisclosed) from IR on Monday, with CSN New England's Joe Haggerty suggesting that the move to send Seth Griffith down is "more of a cap thing than anything else."
    • Bruins' Griffith Notches Tally Saturday

News: Seth Griffith recorded a goal in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Through 15 games, Seth Griffith has recorded five goals and seven points, numbers that put the rookie winger -- who has scored two goals over his last four outings -- on the radar in deeper formats.
    • Bruins' Griffith Scores Spectacular Game-Winner

News: Seth Griffith scored a highlight-reel goal in Monday's 4-2 win over New Jersey.
Analysis: Entering the contest, Seth Griffith had gone four games without a point, but his no-look, behind-the-back goal Monday ended up as the game-winner. Overall, Griffith has four goals and six points in 12 games, a level of production that gives the rookie winger some utility in deeper formats.
    • Bruins' Griffith Delivers Three-Point Game

News: Seth Griffith scored goals on both his shots, added a power-play assist and notched two PIM in Tuesday's loss to the Wild.
Analysis: Seth Griffith figured into all three Boston goals despite skating a modest 14:25. He's now got five points in his last four games, making him an intriguing 'buy' candidate.
