Josh Beckett, it's safe to say, is not a popular man in Boston.

The right-hander -- part of two World Series winning teams with the Red Sox -- was booed by the Fenway Park crowd as he left Tuesday's game against the Tigers in the third inning. Beckett retired the first eight batters he faced, but left the game after just 2 2/3 innings, giving up one run on one hit. He walked two -- including Miguel Cabrera with the bases loaded -- and hit a batter.

The Red Sox pitching coach Bob McClure and a trainer went out to see Beckett after the walk to Cabrera and then he was taken out to a chorus of boos. The team said he left the game with back spasms.

Beckett had back problems in 2010, as well.

Clayton Mortensen replaced Beckett, getting Prince Fielder to pop up to end the inning with the bases loaded.
