Heyward is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
The Dodgers are facing a left-handed starting pitcher (David Peterson) for the second consecutive game, so the lefty-hitting Heyward will once again be on the bench after he sat out the second leg of Tuesday's doubleheader. He'll cede his spot in the outfield to the right-handed-hitting Miguel Vargas, who has seemingly moved into the short side of a platoon with Heyward.
Heyward isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Mets, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Heyward went 1-for-3 and drew a walk in a win during Game 1, and he'll step out of the lineup to conclude Tuesday's proceedings as the Mets send lefty Jose Quintana to the mound. Miguel Vargas, Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernandez will start across Los Angeles' outfield while Heyward rests.

Heyward (back) is starting in right field and batting eighth in Friday's game against the Reds, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Heyward appeared in just five games for the Dodgers before landing on the 10-day injured list April 3 due to lower-back tightness, going 3-for-14 with two RBI. It took about a month for the 34-year-old to return to baseball activities, and he appeared in two games with Triple-A Oklahoma City earlier this week, going 0-for-6 with one walk and two strikeouts.
Heyward (back) rejoined the Dodgers on Thursday but was not activated from the injured list, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Heyward began a rehab assignment Tuesday and appeared in two games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, during which he went 0-for-6. Manager Dave Roberts said Heyward is ready to return soon, so it's likely he'll be activated at some point during the Dodgers' weekend series against the Reds.
