| Brignac still in the mix at SS: According to the St. Petersburg Times, manager once again Joe Maddon plans to go with some combination of Reid Brignac and Sean Rodriguez at shortstop in 2012, declaring an "open competition" between the two. Brignac was part of a similar arrangement in 2011 and hit only .193 with a .448 OPS in 249 at-bats. (Updated 12/05/2011) |

| Brignac is considered a whiz with the glove, but his bat has only regressed during his time in the majors. His minor-league numbers offer at least some reason for optimism, but the odds of becoming an impact Fantasy player in 2012 are pretty slim.
