Red Sox outfielder Mike Carp, who was expected to play in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday against the Rays despite a minor cramping issue, sat out both ends of the double dip. 

Carp did not make it back into the lineup for the nightcap. He is day to day and the injury is still considered minor. He's played well lately, collecting 11 hits in his last eight games. Carp is hitting .324/.379/.686 in 105 at-bats.

The Red Sox announced after the loss to the Orioles Sunday that Mike Carp, who left the game with a hamstring injury, has more of a cramp, WEEI.com reports. 

Boston manager John Farrell is hopeful Carp will be available Tuesday for the doubleheader against the Rays. 

Red Sox first baseman Mike Carp injured his right hamstring rounding the bases during the top of the seventh inning Sunday in Baltimore. Carp doubled and appeared to pull up when he got to second base. 

He remained in the game, but was pulled off third after being advanced. Shane Victorino entered as the pinch-runner. Carp went 1 for 2 with a walk and a strikeout in the game before leaving. He's batting .324 and has been red-hot for the Red Sox of late. 

Carp has hits in eight of his last 10 games, and has five homers in his last 11 contests with 11 RBI over that span.

Red Sox outfielder/first baseman Mike Carp homered for the fifth time in 10 games (eight starts) Saturday against the Orioles. Carp is batting .400 (16 for 40) with two doubles, five home runs, five walks, 11 runs and 12 RBI in 12 June games (10 starts).
