Padres center fielder Will Venable hit the game-clinching two-run home run in the top of the 11th inning against the Phillies on Thursday.

Venable had been 1-for-17 cominf off the bench prior to the home run, his sixth of the season.

Much of the season for Padres platoon outfielder Will Venable has been marked by short hot streaks followed by short cold ones.

He is currently experiencing the latter.

Venable has just two hits in his last 13 at-bats and none in four of the last five games in which he has a plate appearance. He still boasts a decent slash line of .263/.325/.409 on the year.

Padres outfielder Will Venable collected three hits during Tuesday night's 6-5 loss against the Braves. 

Venable hit a home run, double and single during the game. His homer gave him five for the season and came on a 0-1 pitch in the third inning. Venable finished the game 3 for 5 and totaled two RBI and scored two runs for the Padres. 

Venable had been in a bit of a slump before his stellar night, batting just .211 over his previous 10 games. 

Venable is now hitting .273/.333/.447 for the season.

Padres CF Will Venable slugs fourth home run in win on Friday

Padres center fielder Will Venable hit the first of his team's three home runs in the 6-2 win over the Reds on Friday. Venable launched his solo shot in the second inning to give the Padres an early 3-0 lead. He now has four home runs and 15 RBI on the season.

Venable, who also singled on Friday, now has three straight two-hit performances and is batting .272 on the season.
