Making his first appearance since Tuesday due to tightness in his groin, Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt suffered his first blown save of the year, walking a batter before allowing a game-ending inside-the-park home run.

Betancourt (1-2) suffered his second loss in May and saw his ERA rise to 2.55 after getting one out before the game-winning hit.

Betancourt would have been available in the ninth inning if it was a save situation, according to The Denver Post. He has not pitched since May 21.

Before determining his availability Friday against the Giants, Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt will throw in the pen before the game, according to the Denver Post. Betancourt has been unavailable with a groin injury.  

If Betancourt's bullpen session does not go well, the team might opt to put him on the disabled list in order let the injury heal completely.

Betancourt has inflammation around scar tissue in his right groin. According to the report, Betancourt will be good to go by Friday at the latest.

Betancourt exited after throwing two pitches in the dirt. He doesn't believe his injury is serious, though it has bothered him for a month. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI Wednesday.

"We will see what will come from tomorrow. We have Thursday off, and I hope it will be fine if I don't pitch those two days. If it was more serious I would tell you. If it was really bad I would tell you. But it's getting tight every time, and it's not easy to pitch like that," Betancourt said.
