Orioles injured second baseman Brian Roberts will accompany the team on the road to continue his rehab, the Baltimore Sun reports Saturday. Roberts has not yet done sprint bursts so he's not ready for a rehab assignment yet. 

Roberts said hitting outside was a step in the right direction, though he's not putting a timetable on his return right now. He could begin an assignment when the Orioles begin a seven-game home stand June 24. 

Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts took batting practice in the team's indoor facility prior to Wednesday's game against the Angels, as he continues to rehab from hamstring surgery. Roberts is making progress in his recovery, but the team does not yet have a concrete timeline for his possible return to the field. 

He is expected to go on minor-league rehab assignment soon. 

Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts (hamstring) joined teammates at Camden Yards in Baltimore Monday before a game against the Angels, MASNSports.com reports. He said it was great to be back in his home stadium. 

"It's great to be back," Roberts said. "You feel kind of isolated on an island down there (in Sarasota, Fla.) It is already good to be around the guys and feel like you are part of the team."

Roberts hopes to go out on a rehab assignment in the minor leagues sometime soon. That said, there is still no timetable for that to begin. 

"We are not looking to get any miracle solution out of this, it was just one of the things I brought up and they kind of agreed it was a good idea," Roberts said. "But nothing compares to being in this atmosphere. I don't know how much longer I have left to be in it, and I want to be around it as much as possible. I don't think we have a time frame, still at this point, but we are certainly in the homestretch."

Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts has progressed to throwing, running and taking soft-toss batting practice, and expects to be back with the team prior to the All-Star break. 

"I would love to be back before the break," he told MLB.com Friday. "I definitely think it's for sure realistic. I don't know if that's July 10, July 1 or June 20. We will push it, but we will be smart. When I do get back I want to be back for the long haul, not just for a week. So we got to do it smart and do it right the first time."

Roberts, who has been recovering from hamstring surgery, was with the team in Tampa. He might travel to Baltimore with the team at the end of the road trip to continue his rehab.  

Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts took a break from his rehab Friday to visit the team in Tampa, a few miles from the team's spring training complex. Manager Buck Showalter told MASNSports.com that Roberts is making good progress in his recovery from hamstring surgery, and should be able to return to the field in a few weeks.

"Brian feels good today," Showalter said. "His six-week period is less than two weeks away. So far, so good."
