Orioles first baseman Travis Ishikawa has been recalled from Triple-A, and is in the team's starting lineup Tuesday against the Tigers. 

Ishikawa was eligible to opt out of his contract Tuesday, but the Orioles decided to call him up. He'll serve as the club's DH and hit eighth against Justin Verlander. Ishikawa was hitting .316 in Triple-A.

First baseman Travis Ishikawa will be called up by the Orioles, according to MASN.

Ishikawa submitted paperwork to opt out of his deal this weekend, and was supposed to be released from his contract Tuesday. The Orioles, however, have decided to call up Ishikawa from Triple-A. Ishikawa is hitting .316/.413/.525 in Triple-A. His career major-league batting line is .264/.328/.405 in 755 at-bats. 

Triple-A Norfolk first baseman Travis Ishikawa has officially exercised his opt-out clause Sunday, The Baltimore Sun reports. The Orioles have 48 hours to add him to the 25-man roster or release him. 

Ishikawa has hit well with Norfolk this season. The 29-year-old is batting .316 over 177 at-bats with seven homers, 16 doubles and 31 RBI. Baltimore doesn't really have a need for him on the major-league club, however.

Ishikawa can opt out of his contract and apparently his side told the Orioles he would do that Sunday. He is not in the lineup at Triple-A Norfolk.

Ishikawa has recorded a hit in six of his last seven games in the minors. He hit .316 with seven homers and 31 RBI in 49 games played.
