| Castro an option for rotation?: Mariners starter Erik Bedard was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday, retroactive to Tuesday with a sprained knee. Bedard went seven innings on Monday against Atlanta, but there had been no report of a knee injury. The team recalled C Jose Yepez to take his place on the roster and did not announce any plans to replace Bedard in the rotation. Fabio Castro, currently with Triple-A Tacoma, could be an option to fill in for Bedard in the rotation. (Updated 06/29/2011) |

| Castro is not on the team's 40-man roster, meaning that somebody would have to be designated for assignment in order to fit him in. However, Castro is the only starter in the team's Triple-A rotation with an ERA below 4.00. He has a 3.82 ERA over 14 appearances (12 starts) with 51 strikeouts over 66 innings.
