Mets starting pitcher Shaun Marcum was unable to pick up his first win of the season in Wednesday's start against the Cardinals despite turning in a quality start. Marcum surrendered three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out three in 6 2/3 innings.

It was the first time this season Marcum pitched at least five full innings. He takes an 0-4 record and 6.75 ERA into a home start against the Reds Monday.

Mets starting pitcher Shaun Marcum fell to 0-3 on the year by surrendering six earned runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Pirates Friday, striking out two and walking none.

Marcum also took a line drive off his glove hand, but stayed in to pitch after being checked out by trainers. Manager Terry Collins said after the game that X-rays on Marcum's left thumb were negative, ESPNNewYork.com reports.

Marcum, who has an 8.59 ERA on the season, is scheduled to face the Cardinals in St. Louis Wednesday.

The Mets' game at Atlanta scheduled for Saturday was postponed due to rain and a makeup date was not announced. Although the Braves decided to skip Saturday's starter Julio Teheran in the rotation, New York chose to push back its group.

The Mets will send Jonathon Niese -- Saturday's probable starter -- to the mound Sunday, and Matt Harvey was pushed to the series opener against the White Sox Tuesday. He is scheduled to be followed by Jeremy Hefner (Wednesday), Dillon Gee (Thursday against Pittsburgh) and Shaun Marcum (Friday).
