Reds' Devin Mesoraco: Sits Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mesoraco will take a seat for Friday's game against the Marlins.

Mesoraco was just reinstated from the DL (back) on Wednesday, and made his first start since early July during Thursday's game with the Diamondbacks. He went 0-for-4 with a strikeout, but more importantly, felt fine following the contest. The catcher will get the day off after returning to the lineup, while Tucker Barnhart draws the start in his stead.

Reds' Robert Stephenson: Will start Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stephenson will get the start Saturday against the Marlins.

Stephenson was officially tabbed as the starter after tossing six innings with Triple-A Louisville on Monday. The 24-year-old has made 13 appearances with the Reds this year, but Saturday will mark his first start since last season. Since being optioned by the club in late May, Stephenson posted a 3.92 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP over the course of eight starts at the Triple-A level. During eight starts with the big-league team in 2016, Stephenson allowed 25 runs in 37 innings of work, with a 31:19 K:BB.

Reds' Jose Peraza: Transitions to reserve role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Peraza will be moved into a reserve role for the time being, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Peraza was given every opportunity by manager Bryan Price to claim the starting gig at second base for his own, but the Reds had little choice after the infield prospect mustered just a .252/.277/.328 slash line in an everyday role this season. His positional versatility should play up off the bench in real life, but this is a short-term blow to fantasy value. He still has some prospect shine left in dynasty leagues, but for the remainder of the 2017 campaign, Scooter Gennett appears to be the Cincinnati second baseman to roster.

Reds' Scooter Gennett: Moves into starting role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Gennett will be the Reds' primary second baseman moving forward, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Manager Bryan Price wanted to give Jose Peraza every opportunity to play every day in the big leagues, but after Gennett broke out following an organizational switch, the former Brewer will now get the opportunity to play regularly. Gennett is slashing .308/.359/.590 on the season and appears to be slotted into the lineup somewhere around the fifth or sixth spot in Cincinnati's order.

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Hits pair of solo homers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Suarez went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs in Thursday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Suarez accounted for all of the Reds' offense in a 12-2 blowout. The 26-year-old was in a bad way at the plate throughout most of June (.190 average, two homers), but he seems to be heating up again with five extra-base hits in his last three games. His overall numbers still look strong despite the recent funk -- his .360 OBP represents a dramatic improvement from a year ago (.317).
