Reds' skipper not eager to rush Mat Latos back
by Al Melchior | Data Analyst

According to Reds manager Bryan Price, Mat Latos is highly unlikely to make his next start and could miss the rest of the season. Price told the Cincinnati Enquirer, "We're not going to try to force feed Mat his last few starts if he's not feeling really good."

Latos did not take his most recent turn in the Reds' rotation on Friday, as he has been dealing with a bone bruise on his right elbow.

David Holmberg starts Saturday with Dylan Axelrod sidelined
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Reds pitcher David Holmberg will make his third start of the season Saturday with Dylan Axelrod sidelined by an oblique strain.

Axelrod may be held out for the remainder of the season to avoid the risk of re-injury, and Holmberg will get the shot to make his mark after tossing 5 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Axelrod Monday. Holmberg owns a 8.25 ERA and 9:10 K:BB ratio in 12 innings after making two brutal starts earlier in the season.

Daniel Corcino turns in a quality start
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Reds starter Daniel Corcino turned in a quality start Friday against the Brewers.

Corcino allowed two runs on two hits over six innings. He struck out four and walked one during the outing. He allowed both his runs in the fourth inning. After a drop third strike put Carlos Gomez on second to open the inning, Corcino gave up a run-scoring single to Jonathan Lucroy. A wild pitch put Lucroy on second, allowing him to score on a single by Ryan Braun. Despite the issues, Corcino managed to throw two more scoreless innings before leaving the game.

The Reds mounted a comeback, taking Corcino off the hook. He’ll take on the Cubs if he gets another start.
