Berti (groin) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Berti has been down for the last two weeks with a left groin strain but is ready to play in some rehab games to show he's over the injury. Because he hasn't missed that much time, Berti probably won't need too many rehab at-bats before being activated.
Soto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk during Friday's loss against the Brewers.
Soto went deep against Colin Rea in the first inning to put the Yankees ahead early, but he was unable to score the other two times he reached base Friday, as the Yankees fell short in extra innings. The 25-year-old outfielder has now homered twice in his last three contests and has driven in 23 RBI in just 27 games -- further proof that he is one of the most lethal hitters in the big leagues.

Gil surrendered five earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six batters across five innings during Friday's loss to Milwaukee. He didn't factor into the decision.
Though he was able to limit his struggles with walking batters, Gil's five runs and six hits allowed represented season highs for the 25-year-old, who now owns a 4.01 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through five starts. He's lined up to face another high-octane offense in Baltimore on Wednesday, and he could be at risk of getting hit around again if his command doesn't improve.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Dominguez (elbow) has increased his throwing distance to 135 feet, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Dominguez continues to progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery from last September, and Boone noted that the 21-year-old is "a few weeks" away from playing in a minor-league rehab game. Dominguez appeared in eight games with the Yankees last season, going 8-for-31 with four home runs and seven RBI over that span.

Cortes tossed a quality start for the third time in his past four outings, though he has added just one win to his ledger over that span. All of the runs the left-hander gave up Thursday came in the third inning via a pair of long balls. Despite notching just one victory across six appearances, Cortes has done pretty well so far this season, posting a 3.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 32:5 K:BB over 36 innings.

He's losing his spot on the 40-man roster in favor of Michael Tonkin, who was claimed off waivers. Joe Boyle appeared to have struck Judge out in the second inning but was charged with a balk on the third strike instead, and the Yankees slugger made him pay by crushing his next pitch over the fence in right field. Schmidt (2-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 7-3 victory over the A's, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out six.
The right-hander cruised through five innings before serving up a three-run shot to Brent Rooker in the sixth and getting the hook after 92 pitches (58 strikes), but the Yanks supported Schmidt with three long balls of their own. He's still looking for his first quality start of the season, but Schmidt has lasted five or more innings in four of his five outings, and he hasn't given up more than three runs in any of them. He'll take a 3.55 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 25.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Baltimore.
