Auston Matthews is in the Halloween and election season spirit. USATSI

It's Halloween party season in the NHL. Every team seems to get into the spirit and throw a soiree whenever their travel schedule allows. Sunday night was the night for the Toronto Maple Leafs to get all dressed up.

This year, every Halloween party you go to is going to feature some reference to the presidential race. Just get ready for it. It's happening. The Maple Leafs were no exception.

Forward Peter Holland was Donald Trump, while his girlfriend played the part of Hillary Clinton. But the only thing that makes a couples costume better is how you dress the third wheel.

Toronto's star rookie and most recent No. 1 pick Auston Matthews had the NHL season's first viral moment when he scored four goals in his debut. It was only natural that the 19-year-old would go as a fellow viral sensation.

We're of course talking about the breakout star of the town hall debate, Mr. Ken Bone.

Every party you go to is going to have two to three Ken Bones. All you need is thick glasses, a red sweater, some slacks and a mustache, grown or otherwise. It's too easy.

At least the youngster is engaged in the political process, one way or another. This is the first presidential election Matthews has been old enough to vote in. Maybe he's filing absentee, as he now lives and plays in Canada. After all, his vote (if he chooses to vote) could mean a lot in his home state of Arizona.

As far as other Maple Leafs go, we're going to have to give high marks to Tyler Bozak for his pretty solid Zoolander costume. Bonus points for a killer "Blue Steel."

That's a veteran right there. The rookie can learn a thing or two from Bozak on costume commitment.
