Niskanen has first goal in win: Alex Auld made 31 saves, and Mike Ribeiro, Matt Niskanen and Loui Eriksson scored in the Dallas Stars' 3-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday. Niskanen gave the Stars a 2-0 lead 3:52 into the second period with his first goal of the season. He beat Jimmy Howard with a one-timer from the point.

Niskanen thought he had his first goal of the season on Saturday against the Coyotes, but further video evidence took the goal away from him. So, Wednesday's tally ended up his first. Niskanen missed a few games earlier this season with a head injury, but he hasn't suffered a setback. The 22-year-old Niskanen has been a solid contributor on the Stars' blue line since his rookie season in 2007-08. He definitely gets the job done at both ends of the ice for Dallas, but his offensive production can sometimes be spotty. Niskanen passes as a low-end Fantasy defenseman when healthy.
