  • Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Reassigned Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/21/17) Paajarvi was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Tuesday.

After seven short games and three points, another NHL spell has come to a close for Paajarvi. The 10th-overall pick in 2009, Paajarvi's career arc has been disappointing to witness. As a highly-touted rookie, Paajarvi scored 15 goals and 34 points in 2010-11, but has trended downwards since then. Nowadays the 25-year-old Swede is a depth forward, bouncing back-and-forth between the AHL and NHL, hoping to rediscover his game.

Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Shifted to new line

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/14/17) Paajarvi, who skated on the Blues' top line during Saturday's win over the Canadiens, practiced on the team's third line Monday, Tom Timmerman of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The Blues are dealing with an injury to Paul Stastny, who didn't practice Monday due to a lower-body injury, leaving him uncertain for Wednesday's game in Detroit. Paajarvi took Stastny's spot Saturday, but it looks like Jaden Schwartz will skate on the top line with Alexander Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko on Wednesday if Stastny isn't ready to go. Paajarvi practiced with Jori Lehtera (18 points, 51 games) and Dmitri Jaskin (10 points, 41 games).

Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Pots game winner Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/8/17) Paajarvi scored the Blues' first goal in Tuesday's 6-0 blanking of Ottawa. He also had three shots on net, two blocked shots and a hit in 13:03 of ice time.

Paajarvai was called up from AHL Chicago over the weekend and was active for the first time Tuesday. Active, indeed, Paajarvi is known for his speed and flashed it on his second-period goal, turning the corner and finishing off a power move to the net. He had just six goals for the AHL Wolves, but had missed nearly six weeks with a broken hand. He skated on a line with Jaden Schwartz and Patrik Berglund, the Blues' third unit, and has an opportunity to earn a larger role for a team with a new head coach and looking to reboot its season.

    Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Recalled Sunday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/5/17) Paajarvi was recalled from AHL Chicago on Sunday.

With Robby Fabbri out for the rest of the season, the Blues needed wingers, so Paajarvi and Kenny Agostino were called up. With 16 points in 25 AHL games this year, the 25-year-old has himself as a scorer in the minors. If that level of production can translate to the NHL, it could help soften the blow of losing a scorer like Fabbri.

Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Clears waivers, assigned to AHL

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/28/16) Paajarvi cleared waivers and was assigned to Chicago of the American Hockey League.

The Blues exposed Paajarvi to waivers when Jori Lehtera returned to the lineup Thursday, feeling he had a better shot at going unclaimed than Ty Rattie, the other expendable forward on the roster. The 25-year-old Paajarvi has yet to fulfill on the offensive promise the Blues thought it was getting when they acquired him from Edmonton in 2013. The speedy winger's been saddled on the fourth line, scoring 23 points in 116 games with St. Louis.

  • December 30, 2014: Blues' Paajarvi Clears Waivers
Paajarvi has cleared waivers, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.Paajarvi, who has appeared in just 10 games this season, will likely report to AHL Chicago. If injuries strike the NHL roster later in the season, Paajarvi could get another shot with the big club.
December 29, 2014: Blues Waive Paajarvi
Paajarvi was waived by the Blues on Monday, TSN.ca reports.Paajarvi had served as a healthy scratch for the Blues throughout most of the season, appearing in just 10 games. The team's ample depth at forward might have resulted in minimal opportunities for Paajarvi, but a squad with lesser talent on the wing could deem him worthy of a regular lineup spot. In the event he goes unclaimed on waivers, Paajarvi would likely report to AHL Chicago.
