  • Canucks' Chris Tanev: Joins rush to net overtime winner Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/19/17) Tanev scored the overtime-winning goal Saturday against the Flames.

It was a great sequence from Tanev, who jumped into the play and sniped a shot past Brian Elliott. The 27-year-old, who logged 22:22 of ice time in the victory, has focused on defense this season, but his overtime winner proves he still has that offensive touch. His six points and lack of power-play production make him not worth your time in most fantasy leagues. Tanev is far more valuable to the Canucks than he is to fantasy owners.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Offense nowhere to be found

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/8/17) Tanev has just five assists in 29 games this season.

Tanev remains a solid blueliner, but the offense has disappeared this season. He's yet to score a goal and his last point came in mid-January against Philadelphia. The 27-year-old was never known for being a huge offensive contributor, but he had posted three straight seasons around the 20-point range, so the consistency was there. The emergence of offensive blueliners Ben Hutton and Troy Stecher has taken the pressure off Tanev and helped him feel comfortable staying back, so it's best to avoid him in fantasy.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Back in action Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/10/17) Tanev (upper body) will return to Vancouver's lineup for Tuesday's game against the Predators.

Tanev's return to action will bolster the Canucks' depth at defense, but his limited offensive upside -- four points in 18 games this season -- keeps him from being a useful option in most season-long fantasy formats. The veteran blueliner is expected to skate with Luca Sbisa on Vancouver's second pairing in Tuesday's contest.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Will travel with team

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/9/17) Tanev (upper body) will make the trip to Nashville, hinting at a Tuesday return, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports.

The 27-year-old missed Saturday's game after leaving Friday's game with an upper body injury. He has four assists and no goals in 18 games this year, so he isn't much of a fantasy threat even if he suits up in Nashville.

Canucks' Chris Tanev: Will not play Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/7/17) Tanev (upper body) has been ruled out for Saturday's road game against the Flames, Sportsnet's John Shannon reports.

Tanev sustained his injury in Friday's home game against Calgary. He'll get a nice three-day break for rehab before the team will need to make a decision on his availability for the next game, a road match against the Predators. Alex Biega will replace him in the meantime.

March 29, 2015: Canucks' Tanev Logs Two Assists
Tanev registered a pair of assists in Saturday's loss to Dallas. While it was a good offensive night for Tanev, he was a mess defensively, finishing a minus-2. The 25-year-old now has a career-high 18 points in 63 games, while averaging 20:59 of ice time. He shows flashes of offensive brilliance and his plus-9 rating is solid, but with just 48 shots on goal and two power-play points, Tanev's fantasy value is mostly restricted to deeper formats.
