Toronto FC star Sebastian Giovinco is not going to China for now despite offers, according to ESPNFC

The 30-year-old former MLS MVP, who arguably has been the best player in the league the last two seasons, has revived his career in North America, and clubs have taken notice.

His agent, Andrea D’Amico, told Sky Sports that Giovinco has said no to a move to China, ending speculation over a potential departure.

“The money was not right for Toronto and it wasn’t right for him either, but let’s see. When you talk about the transfer market, it’s always a case of ‘for now,’” D’Amico said.

“There are so many intermediaries operating with Chinese clubs. They came here and made us an offer, both from Beijing and from other clubs, and then there is an escalation once the first offer is rejected with a better one arriving.”

Giovinco has 39 goals in 61 matches since joining MLS, with the 2017 campaign less than two weeks away. Him staying cements Toronto as the favorite in the Eastern Conference. Toronto lost the MLS Cup to Seattle in December in penalty kicks.

The transfer window in China closes at the end of February. So there is still time for a better offer, but for now, it looks like he is staying.
