Brissett has taken all the first-team reps during open practices, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.

Third overall pick Drake Maye presumably will have a chance to win the Week 1 starting job, but he may have to wait until training camp to get any reps with the first-team offense. Graff notes that Brissett runs the offense smoothly, having previously worked with offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt when both were with the Browns in 2022.

Boyle returned to practice Thursday after receiving stitches on his finger last week, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Boyle missed just over a week of OTAs while recovering from this injury. The 29-year-old quarterback is vying for a spot on the 53-man roster as a backup to C.J. Stroud, but he faces a tough test with Davis Mills and Case Keenum also on the roster.

Hill has taken snaps as a running back, fullback and tight end during OTAs rather than getting direct snaps as a dual-threat quarterback, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Advocate reports.

While Hill presumably will take direct snaps at some point, early signs suggest new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak prefers to use his versatile weapon as more of a hybrid tight end/running back/fullback/H-back. Former Saints coordinator Pete Carmichael rarely put Hill in the backfield unless he was taking the snap, instead using him as either a power-formation quarterback or spread-formation tight end. Hill scored between five and nine touchdowns each of the past five seasons, with last year's 692 yards from scrimmage representing a new career high, besting his 652 from 2022. His occasional outbursts -- often fueled by red-zone work -- have made Hill rather useful in leagues where he has tight end eligibility and the scoring is non-PPR and/or best ball. His lack of receptions compared to other tight ends has made him far less valuable in PPR formats, especially those that set lineups weekly, and that'll probably continue under Kubiak even if Hill's role changes a bit in his age-34 season. Many fantasy players will be less interested in Hill himself and more interested in how his role impacts the touchdown projections for quarterback Derek Carr and the Saints' other skill-position players.

Stidham said he's "super excited" to compete with Bo Nix and Zach Wilson for quarterback reps at OTAs and believes he could win the starting job, Jeff Legwold of ESPN reports.

Stidham said he's "very confident that I can be the guy for us next year.'' The 2019 fourth-rounder isn't unaccustomed to such situations, noting that he "dealt with this before" when New England drafted Mac Jones in the first round. Now, Stidham finds himself in the veteran role of an offseason competition, with Nix having been selected 12th overall in April's draft and Wilson still coming along in his development. Coach Sean Payton has made clear that the Broncos are approaching the offseason as a three-way competition for the starting gig, per Legwold.

Coach Mike McDaniel said at OTAs that Tagovailoa, who continues to vie for a contract extension beyond his fifth-year option, has dropped between 10 and 15 pounds this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.

Tagovailoa has been an on-and-off participant at OTAs for Miami, but McDaniel made clear that his attendance schedule has been a non-issue. The quarterback added weight last offseason in order to protect himself, and coupled with training to reduce impact taken when falling to the ground, that allowed Tagovailoa to play a full 17-game slate for the first time in his NFL career. It appears that the signal-caller is now putting in the work to get more mobile while keeping the traits that have added to his durability, with McDaniel noting that Tagovailoa is looking "svelte." Both sides will continue negotiations on a multi-year extension, though Alain Poupart of SI.com notes the possibility of Tagovailoa playing out the 2024 season on his fifth-year option can't be entirely dismissed.

Coach Sean Payton has made it clear Nix, Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson are competing for the starting QB job, ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold reports.

Payton said Thursday that Nix is "farther along" than most rookies would be at the same juncture, citing Nix's intelligence and NCAA QB record of 61 starts as likely explanations for his ability to learn the Denver offense quickly. The rookie first-round pick opened Thursday's practice with the starters, but Payton downplayed the significance afterward, mentioning that Stidham got more first-team snaps Tuesday and Wilson took the majority Wednesday. Payton said all three are doing well so far and expressed confidence that the Broncos have a good QB room, though he also used the term "orphan dogs" to describe the trio of Nix, Stidham and Wilson.

The Jets removed Stepp (undisclosed) from IR with an injury settlement Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Stepp reverted to IR with an undisclosed issue Thursday and reached an injury settlement one day later. He'll thus be eligible to join a new organization upon returning to health. The 24-year-old initially latched on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent May 13.

Goodson, Trey Sermon and Evan Hull got first-team reps at Thursday's practice, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan reports.

Jonathan Taylor missed practice for personal reasons, leaving the Colts with an inexperienced group of running backs. Multiple reports have suggested Sermon and Hull will compete for the second spot on the depth chart, but Goodson's work with the starting offense suggests he's also in the running to earn a bench role. While he weighs less than 200 pounds and has taken just 19 regular-season touches since going undrafted in 2022, it wouldn't be shocking if Goodson challenged Hull for a role as the two-minute/hurry-up back. Goodson ran a 4.42 at the 2022 Combine, after piling up 2,551 rushing yards and 70 receptions in three seasons at Iowa.

Estime underwent a small scope on his knee last week, but he is expected to be ready for training camp, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.

Estime is expected to rehab his knee, so he will not be present at OTAs or mandatory minicamp in June. At 5-foot-11, 221 pounds, the Broncos' fifth round pick of this year's draft is projected to bring a physical style to the running back room. Assuming his health is back up to par by training camp, he will presumably be competing with the likes of Samaje Perine, Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie and Blake Watson for a depth role behind Javonte Williams in this year's backfield.

Stepp (undisclosed) reverted to the Jets' injured reserve list Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Stepp was waived with an injury designation Wednesday, but he wasn't claimed by another team during the last waiver period, so he'll go back to the injured reserve list. The precise nature of his injury is unclear at this point.

Brightwell (hamstring) was waived by the Giants with an injury designation Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Brightwell ended the 2023 season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, but it's unclear if that's the issue he's currently dealing with. He has rushed 41 times for 164 yards and a touchdown and has caught 11 passes for 92 yards through 37 games with the Giants. If the running back clears waivers, he'll revert to IR, where he'd be slated to remain unless he reaches an injury settlement.

The Jets waived/injured Stepp on Wednesday with an undisclosed injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

The Jets signed Stepp on May 13 as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky. If the running back clears waivers, he'll revert to injured reserve.

Covey (knee) participated in the Eagles' offseason practice Thursday, per Glenn Erby of USA Today.

Covey had knee surgery in the offseason but appears to have recovered well given his ability to participate in the practice session. The 27-year-old is slated to work as Philadelphia's primary punt/kick return in 2024 and should also see some limited work as a receiver in the team's passing game.

Olszewski appeared to hurt his foot and/or ankle during practice Thursday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Olszewski slipped while making a cut during on-field workouts and left practice early. It's unclear at this point how serious the injury may be. Olszewski worked primarily as a punt returner last season and should get an opportunity to handle that role again in 2024, though newcomer Isaiah McKenzie is also candidate to take on those duties.

Hodgins caught a lot of passes with the first-team offense last week but seems to be the odd man out now that Darius Slayton is at OTAs, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Slayton, Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson figure to be the top three wide receivers, leaving Hodgins to compete with Jalin Hyatt, Allen Robinson, Isaiah McKenzie and others for depth roles. It's hard to find a roster with more backup WRs that have starting experience in the NFL, but in Hodgins' case, he mostly got that opportunity because the Giants were so thin at his position the past two seasons. Now that they're in better shape -- at least at wide receiver -- he'll head to training camp without assurances of a Week 1 roster spot, after signing a one-year contract that includes only $325,000 guaranteed.

Coach Shane Steichen said Thursday that Mitchell is "making a lot of plays" at OTAs, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 the Fan reports.

It sounds like the rookie second-round pick is getting a lot of first-team reps, in part because top wide receiver Michael Pittman has been out with a minor knee injury. Wearing a No. 10 jersey to signify the number of WRs drafted before him this spring, Mitchell has taken advantage of the early opportunity by catching a number of passes from starting QB Anthony Richardson. Still, it's unclear if Mitchell will head into Week 1 as a depth/rotation receiver or if he'll immediately supplant Alec Pierce as a starter alongside Pittman and slot man Josh Downs. There's also the question of how different that role might look if/when Mitchell replaces Pierce, as the latter was targeted on just 10.2 percent of his routes last year -- easily the the lowest rate in the league among regular starters at wide receiver.

Slayton showed up to OTAs this week after the Giants added $650,000 of incentives to his contract, ESPN's Jordan Raanan reports.

The 27-year-old is entering the second season of a two-year, $12 million contract, and while he might have been hoping for an extension or additional guaranteed money, it seems he'll settle for the boosted incentives. Slayton has led the Giants in receiving yards in four of his five NFL seasons, topping 700 yards each time without ever getting to 800. He'll likely be one of the team's top three WRs in 2024, along with sixth overall pick Malik Nabers and slot man Wan'Dale Robinson. Of the three, Slayton is least likely to draw a large number of targets, as he's never seen passes on a large percentage of his routes even when playing a lot of snaps in offenses with subpar receiving alternatives.

Mims said things are going "a lot smoother" for him in his second NFL offseason, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

In addition to having a much better understanding of Sean Payton's offense, Mims mentioned that he's "as healthy as I've been in a long time." The 2023 second-round pick was limited by hamstring injuries last spring and summer, though that didn't stop him from having a big impact early in the season, including four receptions of 38 or more yards and a kick-return TD within the first four weeks. While Mims remained effective on special teams apart from a pair of lost fumbles, he had only 135 receiving yards on 22 targets in his 12 appearances after Week 4. The NFL's new kickoff rules figure to make Mims even more important for Denver's special teams this year, and he should also be part of a competition for the No. 2 receiver job opposite Courtland Sutton. If not Mims, it'll likely be Josh Reynolds, Troy Franklin or Tim Patrick (Achilles) stepping up as the No. 2 receiver, though a rotation also is possible.

Uzomah (knee) was seen participating at the Eagles' organized training activities Friday, Dave Zangaro of nbcsportsphiladelphia.com reports.

Uzomah's 2023 campaign came to an early end after suffering a knee injury in December and subsequently being placed on the Jets' injured reserve. He was ultimately released by New York before later landing in Philadelphia. His participation at OTAs indicates his health is back up to par. The veteran is expected to compete for the Eagles' No. 2 tight end role behind Dallas Goedert.

Hendershot has been easing back into action following offseason ankle surgery, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Hendershot underwent ankle surgery following the close of the 2023 season and isn't yet back up to full speed. He's expected to fill a depth role at tight end for Dallas in the coming campaign.

In his second season as a pro, Washington believes that there's a "strong possibility" he can emerge as more of a receiving threat, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.

In 17 regular-season contests as a rookie last season, Washington caught just seven of his 10 targets for 61 yards, but with new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith on board, the 2023 third-rounder is a candidate to see more pass-catching opportunities in what figures to be a more tight-end friendly offense in Pittsburgh. At 6-foot-7, 264 pounds, Washington has the size to continue to make his mark as a run blocker, but the Georgia product has some untapped potential as a receiver and should have an opportunity to demonstrate that more in 2024, while working behind top option Pat Freiermuth in a TE corps that also includes Connor Heyward and MyCole Pruitt.

Kittle has set a goal to be ready for training camp after undergoing core-muscle surgery earlier this offseason, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Kittle said that he played through the injury for about 10 weeks last season, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic. Although he was hurting, the two-time All-Pro still recorded 65 receptions (on 90 targets) for 1,020 yards and six scores. Even if the 49ers opt to err on the side of caution with Kittle when training camp approaches, he'll remain one of the top fantasy options at tight end heading into 2024.

Mallory (hamstring) participated in OTAs last week.

Mallory finished the 2023 campaign sidelined by an injury, but it appears the 2023 fifth-round selection has fully recovered. Although he was able to contribute 18 receptions and 207 yards in 12 regular-season games during his rookie campaign, he faces a crowded tight end room in Indianapolis with the return of Jelani Woods from a Hamstring injury, as well as holdovers Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree.

Okwuegbunam (hamstring) has been participating in the Eagles' team OTAs, Fran Duffy of Big News Network reports.

Okwuegbunam was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury in late December, but he looks to be 100 percent ahead the 2024 season, his second campaign with the Eagles. The tight end appeared in four games with Philadelphia last year, failing to catch his only target. Okwuegbunam will likely operate in a depth role this season behind the likes of Dallas Goedert and newly-acquired C.J. Uzomah (knee).

Coach Kevin Stefanski relayed earlier this week that Hopkins has recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained last December, Scott Petrak of BrownsZone.com reports.

The injury sidelined Hopkins for the Browns' last two regular-season games, as well as the team's playoff loss to the Texans. Per Petrak, Hopkins wasn't initially present for this week's voluntary OTAs, but once the kicker returns to the mix, he'll be set to lead a kicking corps that also includes Cade York and Lucas Havrisik.

Gano (knee) participated in OTAs on Tuesday, per the Giants' official site.

Gano played in the first eight games of 2023 before landing on the IR in November due to a left knee injury that required season-ending surgery. He was back on the field doing kicking drills during OTAs on Tuesday. Gano finished the 2023 season having gone 11-for-17 on field-goal attempts while making all eight of his extra-point tries.

Havrisik was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Havrisik signed a reserve/future contract with Cleveland in January after the Rams waived him. He was expected to at least have the opportunity to compete with Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) and Cade York for the team's kicker job in 2024, but instead, he'll become a free agent once again.

Ryland is slated to face competition from veteran kicker Joey Slye, who is in line to sign with the Patriots, Mark Daniels of masslive.com reports.

A fourth-round pick of the Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft, Ryland is coming off a rookie campaign in which he made just 64 percent of his field-goal attempts (16 of 25). Though the Maryland product has a strong kicking leg, he'll need to display better accuracy in the coming months in order to hold off the challenge presented by the 28-year-old Slye, who connected on 79.2 percent of his field-goal tries with the Commanders last season.

Slye has agreed to a deal with the Patriots, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

After being released by the Jaguars earlier this week, it didn't take long for the 28-year-old to catch on with another team. With the Commanders last year, he made 19 of his 24 field-goal tries and 32 of his 35 extra-point attempts across 17 regular-season games. Now that he's with the Patriots, Slye will have an opportunity to compete with 2023 fourth-rounder Chad Ryland, who is coming off an inconsistent rookie campaign for New England.

The Jaguars released Slye on Tuesday.

Slye inked with Jacksonville as a free agent back in March, but he's now lost his spot on the roster to rookie sixth-round pick Cam Little. Meanwhile, Riley Patterson remains with the Jaguars as potential offseason competition for Little. Slye converted 19 of 24 field-goal tries and 32 of 35 extra-point attempts across 17 games with Washington last season.

Miller is progressing in his return from an Achilles injury, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Miller was hurt in the Jaguars' final preseason contest last August and missed the entire campaign. The 2023 fourth-round pick will look to make his NFL debut in 2024 and could work his way up to prominent role among the team's linebacker corps.

Bootle (knee) participated in offseason practice Wednesday, per a video shared by Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site.

Bootle landed on injured reserve with a knee injury last November and didn't return for the remainder of the campaign. He began the year on the Panthers' practice squad but had started two straight games prior to getting hurt. Now that he's back to being healthy, Bootle will compete for a depth role in Carolina's secondary for the coming campaign.

Hamm (ankle) has been taking in part in the Ravens' offseason practices, per a photo shared on the team's official site.

Hamm was on injured reserve all of last season, though he was designated to return in early December. He now appears to be back to full health and will be able to compete for a depth role on Baltimore's defense during training camp.

Cross appears to have have the lead in Indanapolis' free safety competition so far during OTAs, Kevin Bowen of 1075thefan.com reports.

There is still a long way to go, to be sure, but Cross is getting more reps with the first team during OTAs. He is competing with Rodney Thomas and Daniel Scott (knee) for the opportunity to start alongside strong safety Julian Blackmon in the secondary. Cross started just two games in 2023, but he did suit up for 17 games. The 22-year-old finished the year with 39 tackles (24 solo).

Jones has been logging work with the starters during OTAs, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Jones worked primarily as a starter last season, though that was largely due to Dallis Flowers suffering an Achilles injury in Week 4. Flowers has returned to the field, but Jones has nonetheless been getting work with the Colts' defensive starters during OTAs. It's possible that Jones will be able to retain his starting role following a strong rookie campaign during which he tallied 44 tackles (33 solo) and five defensed passes over 17 contests.

Moss was unavailable for practice Thursday due to a back injury, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Moss apparently "tweaked" something in his back at practice earlier in the week, according to head coach Sean Payton, but the cornerback is expected to be back in action at some point during next week's OTAs. Entering his second season in the NFL, Moss will compete with the likes of Damarri Mathis and Ja'Quan McMillian for reps behind primary cornerbacks Patrick Surtain and Levi Wallace in 2024.
