Twins' Trevor Larnach: Idle against southpaw
Larnach isn't in the Twins' lineup for Saturday's game against Boston.
The Red Sox will send southpaw Brennan Bernardino to the mound to begin Saturday's contest, forcing the lefty-hitting Larnach to step out of the lineup. His absence will move Ryan Jeffers into the DH spot while Christian Vazquez starts behind the plate and bats seventh.

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Hits bench versus lefty
Kirilloff isn't in the Twins' lineup Saturday against Boston.
Brennan Bernardino will start on the mound for the Red Sox, meaning the left-handed bat of Kirilloff will watch the beginning of Saturday's game from the dugout. Willi Castro will move to left field as a result, allowing Jose Miranda to start at third base while batting second.

Twins' Jhoan Duran: Slams door for save
Duran struck out two batters in a perfect inning to earn a save over the Red Sox on Friday.
Duran needed just 11 pitches to quickly retire the middle third of Boston's lineup in order. He's struck out three batters while grabbing a pair of saves in two appearances since returning from the injured lust. The 26-year-old posted terrific numbers last season -- 2.45 ERA and 12.1 K/9 through 62.1 innings -- and should see plenty of save chances throughout the year.

Twins' Edouard Julien: Reached base three times
Julien went 1-for-2 with two RBI, two walks and a stolen base in Friday's win over Boston.
Julien was stuck in an 0-for-11 drought since his last hit April 27. The lefty slugger drove in a run with a third-inning single before drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. He's now slashing .222/.342/.485 with 14 RBI and two stolen bases through 31 appearances.

Twins' Chris Paddack: Wins third straight
Paddack (3-1) yielded two hits and a walk over six shutout frames Friday, striking out six and earning a win over the Red Sox.
After working out of a two-on, no-out jam in the first inning, Paddack locked in and rolled through the Red Sox. He's now 3-1 with a three-game winning streak; during that span, he's posted a 2.00 ERA and an 18:2 K:BB over 18 frames. Paddack forced 12 whiffs, including six with his four-seam that averaged 94.3 mph. The 28-year-old righty has dropped his ERA to 4.78 through six starts. He's currently in line face the Mariners at home next week.

Twins' Kody Funderburk: Returns to majors
The Twins recalled Funderburk from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.
Just two days after being optioned to Triple-A, Funderburk will return to the Twins' bullpen with Brock Stewart (shoulder) headed for the injured list. Funderburk owns a solid 3.38 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 13.1 innings this season, though he's surrendered three runs across four frames spanning his last two outings. He will serve in middle relief while Stewart is sidelined.

Twins' Brock Stewart: Lands on IL
The Twins placed Stewart on the 15-day injured list Friday with right shoulder tendinitis.
Stewart's scoreless streak came to an end during Wednesday's win over the White Sox, as he allowed a home run to Korey Lee in the seventh inning. He'll now miss at least the next two weeks due to his shoulder, leaving Minnesota without one of its most dominant relievers through the first month of the season. Kody Funderburk was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move.

Twins' Royce Lewis: Could return in late May
Lewis (quad) is on target to return around the original eight-week mark in late-May, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Per Hayes, Lewis is progressing well and has started to increase baseball activities. At his one-month checkup, he was healing as expected and he's at five weeks, as of Friday's report.

Twins' Austin Martin: Back in big leagues
The Twins recalled Martin from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The 25-year-old was sent to St. Paul on Monday but will quickly rejoin the Twins as Byron Buxton (knee) landed on the injured list. Martin, Manuel Margot and Willi Castro could all see action in center field while Buxton is unavailable.

Twins' Byron Buxton: Lands on injured list
The Twins placed Buxton on the 10-day injured list Friday with right knee inflammation, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The MRI on his right knee didn't show any structural damage, and GM Derek Falvey indicated Buxton may only require a minimum-length stay on the injured list. However, given the 30-year-old's injury history, there's hardly a guarantee this absence is a brief one. Austin Martin is joining the Twins in a corresponding move.

Twins' Byron Buxton: Not in Friday's lineup
Buxton (knee) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Buxton was sent for an MRI after being lifted from Wednesday's contest due to an issue with his right knee, so it's not a major surprise he's not starting Friday. It remains to be seen if the 30-year-old will require a trip to the injured list, but the injury is a concerning development given that it's to the same knee on which he's undergone multiple surgeries.

Twins' Jorge Alcala: Recalled from Triple-A
The Twins recalled Alcala from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
He's taking the roster and bullpen spot vacated by Caleb Boushley, who was sent back to St. Paul on Thursday. Alcala never deserved to be optioned in the first place, as he has given up just one unearned run on three hits through six appearances this season.

Twins' Adam Plutko: Gets minors deal from Minnesota
The Twins signed Plutko to a minor-league contract Friday.
Plutko, 32, is coming off a terrific two-year stint in the Korea Baseball Organization, having collected a 2.40 ERA and 250:69 K:BB over 285.1 innings with the LG Twins. He's posted a 5.39 ERA across 88 appearances in parts of five major-league seasons, which kept him from getting a big-league contract even after his successful stint overseas. Plutko will head to Triple-A St. Paul.

Twins' Caleb Boushley: Sent back to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Boushley to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Minnesota will wait until shortly before Friday's series opener versus the Red Sox to announce a corresponding roster move, but Boushley will head back to Triple-A just one day after being called up. He didn't appear in long relief Wednesday in the Twins' 10-5 win over the White Sox.

Twins' Tanner Morris: Elects to retire
Morris was placed on the voluntary retired list by Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
The right-hander was acquired from the Blue Jays in early April but opted to retire after going 6-for-45 through 14 games with St. Paul. Morris broke through to the Triple-A level in 2022 but was unable to make his way to the big leagues.

Twins' Jair Camargo: Out with forearm injury
Camargo was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Camargo last saw the field for St. Paul on Saturday, when he went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and a run scored. The severity of the forearm strain isn't known, so it's unclear how long the 24-year-old will be sidelined beyond the seven-day minimum.
