The outfielder is just 1-for-10 over his last four contests, but he was able to pick up his first RBI since May 18 on a groundout Tuesday. Mike Siani STL CF
Cardinals' Mike Siani: Picks up steal Tuesday
2h agoSiani went 1-for-1 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds.
Siani entered the game as a pinch runner for Brendan Donovan in the seventh inning, but he picked up his steal in the eighth. Siani initially got the day off while mired in an 0-for-14 slump over his last five contests. The outfielder is up to a .211/.272/.274 slash line with six steals, one home run, six RBI and 14 runs scored across 109 plate appearances this year. He's seen a starting role in center field lately, though Dylan Carlson got the nod there Tuesday.
-

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Posts three hits in win
2h agoHerrera went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds.
Herrera went 1-for-11 over his previous three games before breaking out of the slump Tuesday. All three of his hits were singles in this contest. The catcher is up to a .276/.344/.362 slash line with three home runs, 16 RBI, 15 runs scored and one stolen base across 131 plate appearances.

2h agoGorman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds.
Gorman has four homers, two steals, eight RBI and eight runs scored over his last nine games, batting .321 (9-for-28) in that span. It's a good run of consistency at the plate for the infielder, who has struggled to put it all together at times this season. He's at a .214/.306/.428 slash line with nine long balls, 23 RBI, 21 runs scored and two steals through 47 contests overall while holding down a starting role at second base.
-
Nolan Arenado STL 3B
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Ends power drought
2h agoArenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds.
Arenado went 11 games without a homer prior to Tuesday. In that span, he hit a paltry .222 (10-for-45). The third baseman took Andrew Abbott deep in the fourth inning to give the Cardinals all the offense they needed in the win. Arenado is still having a rough year overall with four homers, 25 RBI, 21 runs scored, 10 doubles and a .257/.311/.366 slash line over 52 contests. While the Cardinals' offense has struggled at times, Arenado has not been able to lead by example as much as he has in previous years.

David Fry CLE C
Guardians' David Fry: Fills stat sheet in win
4h agoFry went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Tuesday's 13-7 win over the Rockies.
Fry has a pair of three-hits games over his last nine contests, going 13-for-26 (.500) with four homers, three steals and 11 RBI in that span. The utility man is on another level lately, though he's been strong throughout the campaign with a .357/.492/.622 slash line, seven homers, 23 RBI, 26 runs scored and four steals over 128 plate appearances. He's started three straight games in left field, but that avenue into the lineup will close when Steven Kwan (hamstring) returns from the injured list. Fry could compete for playing time with Kyle Manzardo at designated hitter or Bo Naylor at catcher given both of those players' struggles at the plate.
-
Tomas Nido NYM C
Mets' Tomas Nido: Sitting during nightcap
9h agoNido isn't in the Mets' lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Dodgers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

-
Carson Kelly DET C
Tigers' Carson Kelly: On bench Tuesday
14h agoKelly is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
Kelly will yield to Jake Rogers behind the dish Tuesday against righty Jared Jones. Kelly garnered a hit in each of his last three games played, including a three-run homer Sunday.
-
Joey Bart PIT C
Pirates' Joey Bart: Moves to injured list
14h agoBart (thumb) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
The 27-year-old was lifted from Sunday's matchup against Atlanta due to the injury and will now be sidelined for at least the next week and a half, though the severity of the injury remains unclear. Grant Koch was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis and will serve as Yasmani Grandal's backup while Bart is unavailable.
-
Kris Bryant COL 1B
Rockies' Kris Bryant: Goes deep in loss
3h agoBryant went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 13-7 loss to the Guardians.
Bryant has gone 6-for-28 (.214) over eight games since he returned from a back injury. His homer Tuesday was his first extra-base hit in that span. The 32-year-old is slashing a meager .173/.303/.280 with two homers, nine RBI, four runs scored and two doubles over 21 contests this season. For now, it looks like Bryant and Elehuris Montero will share first base and designated hitter.
-
Josh Naylor CLE 1B
Guardians' Josh Naylor: Powers up in win
4h agoNaylor went 2-for-4 with two home runs, a walk, five RBI and three total runs scored in Tuesday's 13-7 win over the Rockies.
Naylor entered Tuesday 0-for-14 over his last three games, and he hadn't logged a multi-hit effort since May 9. Consider the slump busted, as the first baseman tagged starter Ryan Feltner for a two-run blast in the fifth inning before taking reliever Matt Carasiti deep with a three-run shot in the eighth. Naylor is already up to 15 homers through 52 contests this year, just five long balls shy of matching his career high from 2022. He's added a .234/.321/.510 slash line with 40 RBI, 30 runs scored and three stolen bases.
-
Michael Busch CHC 1B
Cubs' Michael Busch: Connects for home run
5h agoBusch went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and two total RBI in Tuesday's 6-3, 10-inning win over the Brewers.
Busch connected for his eighth home run of the season in the third inning, but it was only his second of the month as he's slowed down some after a hot start. Across 23 games in May, the first baseman is batting just .206 after hitting .266 in March and April. Busch should hold onto a regular role, though the Cubs have some other lineup options if they decide to mix things up.
-
Vinnie Pasquantino KC 1B
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Suffers bruised leg
7h agoX-rays on Pasquantino's lower left leg came back negative after he collided with Byron Buxton during Tuesday's game against the Twins.
Pasquantino had to come out of the game after taking a knee to the shin in the third inning, but he appears to have escaped the incident with no more than a bruise. The Royals are officially listing the 26-year-old first baseman as day-to-day, though he may sit out a game or two as a precaution.
-
Vinnie Pasquantino KC 1B
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Exits with apparent injury
8h agoPasquantino was removed from Tuesday's game against the Twins due to an apparent leg injury, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

-
LaMonte Wade SF 1B
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Diagnosed with Grade 2 strain
10h agoWade was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The Giants placed Wade on the injured list earlier Tuesday, but the team expects him to be sidelined for roughly a month now that the severity of his strain has been revealed. In the meantime, Wilmer Flores and Trenton Brooks will likely split time at first base, though neither player is likely to replace Wade's .333/.470/.426 slash line.
-
Nolan Gorman STL 2B
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Blasts homer Tuesday
2h agoGorman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds.
Gorman has four homers, two steals, eight RBI and eight runs scored over his last nine games, batting .321 (9-for-28) in that span. It's a good run of consistency at the plate for the infielder, who has struggled to put it all together at times this season. He's at a .214/.306/.428 slash line with nine long balls, 23 RBI, 21 runs scored and two steals through 47 contests overall while holding down a starting role at second base.
-
Luis Rengifo LAA 2B
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Notches three hits
3h agoRengifo went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Yankees.
Rengifo did a good job of getting on base, and he was able to score after his singles in the first and eighth innings. The infielder has been locked in since returning from an illness May 17, going 15-for-42 (.357) over his last 10 contests. That has raised his slash line to .331/.378/.504 with four home runs, 12 stolen bases, 17 RBI and 22 runs scored across 144 plate appearances on the year.
-
Gavin Lux LAD 2B
Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Sitting against lefty
9h agoLux isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
After a 1-for-5 performance during the Dodgers' Game 1 win, Lux will take a seat during the nightcap versus left-handed starter Jose Quintana. Miguel Rojas will start at the keystone instead while batting eighth.
-
Luis Garcia WAS 2B
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Sitting against lefty
13h agoGarcia is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against Atlanta.
With southpaw Max Fried on the hill for Atlanta, the left-handed hitting Garcia will yield to switch-hitter Ildemaro Vargas at second base. Garcia has made just three starts against lefties this season.
-
Adam Frazier KC 2B
Royals' Adam Frazier: On bench Tuesday
13h agoFrazier is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.
Frazier will get a day off after making three straight starts following the injury to Michael Massey (back). Nick Loftin will bat sixth and play second base.
-
Edouard Julien MIN 2B
Twins' Edouard Julien: On bench Tuesday
13h agoJulien is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.
As usual, Julien will give way to Kyle Farmer at second base with a left-handed pitcher on the mound. Julien has just three hits in his last 27 at-bats and could start losing work against RHP if his struggles persist.
-
Nolan Arenado STL 3B
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Ends power drought

Ramirez has five multi-hit efforts, five homers and 15 RBI over his last seven contests. He opened the scoring in the first inning with his team-leading 16th homer of the campaign. The third baseman has added a major-league-best 56 RBI with 41 runs scored, eight stolen bases and a .272/.328/.558 slash line over 54 games this season. Ramirez was hatting as low as .227 with a .667 OPS on May 4, but he's powered up in a big way over the course of this month.
-
Josh H. Smith TEX 3B
Rangers' Josh Smith: Logs third steal
4h agoSmith went 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch one RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
Smith got the Rangers on the board with an RBI single in the third inning. He also stole second in the eighth after he was plunked. Smith has gone 13-for-43 (.302) with two steals over his last 12 contests. During that stretch, Smith has been promoted to the No. 3 spot in the order. He's slashing a sharp .280/.379/.409 with two home runs, three steals, 21 RBI and 24 runs scored over 190 plate appearances.
-
Jose Miranda MIN 3B
Twins' Jose Miranda: Drives in two
5h agoMiranda went 1-for-4 with a two-RBI single during Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Royals.
Miranda's production at the plate continued Tuesday, plating Manuel Margot and Carlos Correra on a first-inning base hit. In May, Miranda is batting .276 with three long balls, 14 runs scored and 10 RBI across 22 games as the Twins' primary third baseman. However, the 26-year-old could be squeezed out of the starting lineup once Royce Lewis (quad) gets activated from the IL in the coming week or two.
-
Rafael Devers BOS 3B
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Four hits vs. Orioles
5h agoDevers went 4-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 8-3 win over Baltimore.
The four hits are a season-high for Devers while the triple was his first since 2022. The 27-year-old third-baseman had cooled off a bit following his six-game home-run streak, going 3-for-17 in his last five contests. Following Tuesday's effort, Devers is slashing .289/.380/.548 with 10 homers, 26 RBI and 28 runs scored through 192 plate appearances this season.
-
Alec Bohm PHI 3B
Phillies' Alec Bohm: Day off Tuesday
7h agoBohm isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Tuesday's game against San Francisco, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Bohm is batting .311 on the season, but he will get a day to regroup Tuesday after going 6-for-30 (.200) across his last seven contests. Kody Clemens will fill in at the hot corner and bat eighth.
-
Corey Seager TEX SS
Rangers' Corey Seager: Hits go-ahead homer
4h agoSeager went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
Seager's hitting streak is up to 11 games, during which he's gone 14-for-40 (.350). He's also homered seven times over his last seven contests, with Tuesday's blast being enough to secure the win for the Rangers. The shortstop is up to 12 long balls, 27 RBI, 26 runs scored and a .259/.351/.461 slash line through 50 games, though he's been particularly impressive with his recent power surge after a slow start to the campaign.
-
Francisco Lindor NYM SS
Mets' Francisco Lindor: Dealing with swollen finger
6h agoX-rays on Lindor's left index finger came back negative after he injured it on a bunt attempt during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Despite injuring his finger during the first game of Tuesday's action, Lindor was still able to play in the nightcap and go 1-for-4. The 30-year-old shortstop is dealing with a bit of swelling in his finger, so it's possible he sits down for a day or two until the swelling goes down; however, a long-term absence seems unlikely.
-
Dylan Moore SEA SS
Mariners' Dylan Moore: Out of Tuesday's lineup
7h agoMoore isn't in the Mariners' lineup Tuesday against the Astros.
Moore has been extremely hot at the plate lately, slashing an incredible .324/.489/.735 with three homers and seven RBI across his last 11 games. He'll get a breather against Hunter Brown and the Astros while Luke Raley, Julio Rodriguez and Dominic Canzone start across the outfield with Mitch Haniger in as the DH.
-
Geraldo Perdomo ARI SS
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Nearing game action
10h agoDiamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Perdomo (knee) is expected to play in live games "very, very shortly," Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
The 24-year-old has already taken live at-bats but has yet to run thus bases, so he still has a bit of work to do in his rehab program before seeing game action. Lovullo said in mid-May that Perdomo was expected to return from the injured list in a couple weeks, but it instead appears the shortstop's absence will extend into June.
-
Tyler Fitzgerald SF SS
Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Recalled from Triple-A
11h agoThe Giants recalled Fitzgerald from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Fitzgerald was sent to the minors May 20 following the addition of Ryan McKenna from Baltimore. However, Fitzgerald has gone 11-for-25 with six homers and 13 RBI in just six games since joining Sacramento, so the Giants will bring him back up to the majors and look to take advantage of his hot bat. The 26-year-old owns a .269/.309/.442 slash line in 55 MLB plate appearances this year, and his return will cause the dismissal of McKenna, who was DFA'd in a corresponding move.
-
Brayan Rocchio CLE SS
Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Getting day off
11h agoRocchio is not in the Guardians' lineup versus the Rockies on Tuesday.
Rocchio has just two hits across 22 plate appearances in the last seven games. With Rocchio taking a seat, Gabriel Arias will take over at shortstop and bat ninth.

Pillar has hit safely in his last 11 games, going 20-for-41 (.488) in that span. He's logged a trio of three-hit efforts during the streak. The outfielder is up to a .349/.402/.639 slash line with six homers, 24 RBI, 14 runs scored, six stolen bases, four doubles and a triple over 34 contests this season. He struggled initially with the White Sox, but he's been excellent since joining the Angels at the end of April.

Diamondbacks' Jake McCarthy: Swipes bag in loss
4h agoMcCarthy went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers.
McCarthy was one of two Diamondbacks with a multi-hit effort Tuesday. He's logged a steal in each of his last two games, giving him five thefts on six attempts this season. The outfielder is 13-for-46 (.282) over 20 games in May, putting him right in line with his .284/.358/.404 slash line for the season.
-
Byron Buxton MIN CF
Twins' Byron Buxton: Reaches four times
5h agoBuxton went 2-for-2 with a run scored, a stolen base and two walks during Tuesday's 4-2 win over Kansas City.
Buxton got on base in all four plate appearances, logging an infield single in the third frame and generating a triple in the fifth. Since returning from the IL on May 18, Buxton is batting .267 with two homers and a 27.3 percent strikeout rate.
-
Nestor Cortes NYY SP
Yankees' Nestor Cortes: Decent in no-decision
3h agoCortes allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four without walking a batter over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Tuesday.
Cortes allowed multiple runs for the first time in three starts, but it was still a passable outing for the southpaw. He allowed a total of nine runs (eight earned) over 29 innings across five starts in May while adding a 30:8 K:BB in that span. Cortes is at a 3.30 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 67:15 K:BB through 71 innings over 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in San Francisco.
-
Griffin Canning LAA SP
Angels' Griffin Canning: No-decision versus Yankees
3h agoCanning allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings in a no-decision versus the Yankees on Tuesday.
Canning gave up a solo home run and an RBI single to Juan Soto, as well as an RBI double to Austin Wells. Canning has allowed at least one home run in four of his last five starts, the exception being his scoreless outing versus the Royals on May 10. The right-hander is now at a 5.08 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 41:23 K:BB through 56.2 innings across 11 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start in Seattle.
-
Ryan Feltner COL SP
Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Hit hard in loss
3h agoFeltner allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out one over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Guardians on Tuesday.
Feltner finally had some struggles at Coors Field in his fourth home start of the campaign. Jose Ramirez tagged him for a two-run home run in the first inning and Josh Naylor added another two-run blast in the fifth. Feltner posted six scoreless innings against the Athletics in his previous start, but he took a step back Tuesday and continues to post poor numbers overall. He's at a 5.61 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB through 59.1 innings across 11 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Reds.
-
Triston McKenzie CLE SP
Guardians' Triston McKenzie: Allows four runs at Colorado
4h agoMcKenzie gave up four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out nine over five innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Tuesday.
Kris Bryant and Elehuris Montero each tagged McKenzie for a two-run home run. Despite those homers, McKenzie left the game in line for the win before the Guardians' bullpen faltered in the sixth inning. The right-hander had limited opponents to three runs or fewer in each of his last seven outings before his step back Tuesday. McKenzie is at a 3.77 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 54:34 K:BB over 57.1 innings across 11 starts. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Royals in a tough divisional matchup.
-
Brandon Pfaadt ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Brandon Pfaadt: Goes seven innings in loss
4h agoPfaadt (2-4) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings to take the loss versus the Rangers on Tuesday.
Pfaadt covered at least six innings for the sixth start in a row, but this was the third time this year he's allowed at least four earned runs. Josh Smith had an RBI single in the third inning and Corey Seager continued his power surge with a three-run home run in the fifth. Pfaadt is now at a 4.16 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 63:12 K:BB through 67 innings across 11 starts. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Mets.
-
Andrew Heaney TEX SP
Rangers' Andrew Heaney: Picks up win in relief outing
5h agoHeaney (1-6) earned the win Tuesday over the Diamondbacks, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out one over 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.
Heaney essentially piggybacked Nathan Eovaldi, who was returning from a four-week absence with a groin strain. Heaney's last two starts have both been under four innings, so it's possible the Rangers are preparing him for a bullpen role once their rotation is healthier. In the short term, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports Heaney could be deployed as a long reliever again later in the week due to the schedule giving the Rangers two off days this week. Texas hasn't released its projected starters for this weekend's series at Miami, so it's unclear when Heaney may pitch or start again.
-
Clay Holmes NYY RP
Yankees' Clay Holmes: Takes blown save
3h agoHolmes allowed two hits in one-third of an inning, taking a blown save in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Angels.
Holmes inherited two runners from Luke Weaver and allowed both to score on a Taylor Ward double that flipped the Yankees' one-run lead to a one-run deficit. While he wasn't charged with either run, Holmes ended up taking his third blown save of the season, two of which have come in his last four outings. Despite the recent troubles, he's still at a 1.54 ERA and 26:6 K:BB this year, though his 1.24 WHIP is less encouraging. Holmes is still the Yankees' top closing option with 15 saves on the season.
-
Carlos Estevez LAA RP
Angels' Carlos Estevez: Secures save Tuesday
3h agoEstevez pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Yankees.
The Angels rallied ahead in the bottom of the eighth inning, and Estevez made the lead stand. The closer has allowed four runs (three earned) over 8.1 innings in May while adding three saves, one blown save and two losses. He's at a 4.76 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB over 17 innings this season, but he continues to operate in the closer role despite his shaky pitching.

4h agoSmith (2-0) allowed a hit and struck out three without walking a batter over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday versus the Rockies.
Smith got the final out of the sixth inning and also pitched the seventh after the Guardians regained the lead. The rookie right-hander has an eight-inning scoreless streak going, and he's posted a 13:1 K:BB in that span while adding a save and three holds. Smith continues to see an increasing role in the late innings, one that he's earned by pitching to a 1.82 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB over 24.2 innings this season.

Rangers' Kirby Yates: Records eighth save
5h agoYates allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over one scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
This was Yates' first save since May 8, as opportunities have been few and far between for saves recently. He pitched four times between saves, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over three innings. The right-hander has eight saves, two holds, a 0.90 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 25:10 K:BB over 20 innings this season.

Trevor Megill MIL RP
Brewers' Trevor Megill: Avoids fracture
5h agoManager Pat Murphy said after Tuesday's loss to the Cubs that Megill did not suffer a fracture on the line drive that hit his arm in the 10th inning, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.
It remains unclear whether or not Megill will need to spend time on the injured list, but the 30-year-old reliever seems to have avoided the worst. The righty has been operating as Milwaukee's primary closer with Devin Williams (back) on the injured list, though the ninth inning may be given to Hoby Milner or Joel Payamps if Megill is forced to miss time.

Jhoan Duran MIN RP
Twins' Jhoan Duran: Gets out of jam for ninth save
5h agoDuran picked up the save Tuesday against Kansas City, allowing two hits and no walks with a strikeout over one scoreless inning.
Duran surrendered a leadoff double to Salvador Perez and then a single to Adam Frazier, putting runners on the corners with no outs in the ninth. However, pinch-runner Dairon Blanco was caught stealing second and Duran retired MJ Melendez and Nick Loftin back-to-back to keep the Royals off the scoreboard. After taking back-to-back losses in the middle of May, Duran has rebounded with five straight saves, yielding one earned run across 4.1 innings.

Kyle Manzardo CLE DH
Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Three hits in win
3h agoManzardo went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 13-7 win over the Rockies.
Manzardo has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, and he has an extra-base hit in six of those contests. The top prospect is at a .236/.276/.382 slash line with no home runs, four RBI, four runs scored and eight doubles over 58 plate appearances. He's had some struggles adjusting to major-league pitching with a 2:17 BB:K over his first 18 games. Manzardo may be running out of time to make an impression, as the Guardians will need to make a corresponding move to activate Steven Kwan (hamstring) from the injured list later in the week.

Willie Calhoun LAA DH
Angels' Willie Calhoun: Sitting against lefty
8h agoCalhoun isn't in the Angels' lineup Tuesday versus the Yankees.
With southpaw Nestor Cortes set to pitch for New York, the lefty-hitting Calhoun will step out of the lineup in favor of Cole Tucker, who will bat eighth while serving as the Angels' DH.

Kevin Smith NYY DH
Kevin Smith: Elects free agency
9h agoSmith elected to become a free agent Tuesday.
Smith has not registered a big-league plate appearance this season despite enjoying two separate stints with the Yankees. Rather than returning to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on an outright assignment, he'll look to secure a deal elsewhere in free agency. The 27-year-old owns a mere .516 OPS during his major-league career, so it's unlikely he nets anything more than another minor-league deal.

J.D. Martinez NYM DH
Mets' J.D. Martinez: Sitting down for nightcap
9h agoMartinez isn't in the Mets' lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
After a 1-for-4 effort in Game 1, Martinez will get a breather to conclude Tuesday's activities. DJ Stewart will instead get the nod as New York's DH and bat fourth.

Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Sitting out nightcap
9h agoOhtani isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
The Dodgers were planning on giving Ohtani the evening off heading into Tuesday's twin bill, so he'll sit in the dugout after an 0-for-5 performance during Game 1. Will Smith will instead serve as Los Angeles' designated hitter, allowing Austin Barnes to start behind the plate.

Wyatt Langford TEX DH
Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Back from injured list
11h agoThe Rangers activated Langford (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
The 22-year-old has been on the shelf more than three weeks due to a hamstring injury but will rejoin the Rangers after a three-game rehab stint with Triple-A Round Rock. Langford was struggling offensively before going on the injured list, as he was in the midst of a 3-for-28 slump. Evan Carter (back) was moved to the 10-day IL in a corresponding move.
