BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) Shawn Prudhomme made eight 3-pointers and scored 37 points - both career highs - on Tuesday night to help Southern beat NAIA-member Paul Quinn 91-79.

Jared Sam added 20 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks for the Jaguars (2-3), who pulled away with 15 straight points capped by one of Prudhomme's 3s for a 79-61 lead with 4:33 left. The Tigers got the deficit no closer than 13 from there.

JaMarcus Weatherspoon scored 10 and Tre'lun Banks had eight points and 10 assists for Southern.

Blake Ervin and Jalen Johnson led Paul Quinn with 17 points each. Sirpatrick Reynolds added 15 points and Ashley Brooks scored 11.

The Tigers had the lead as late as 29-28 with 4:16 left in the first half and trailed by four at the break. They closed to within 64-61 with 8:35 left in the game.
