Meet Yosef. (Appalachian State Athletics)

In the thick, foggy haze of post-Thanksgiving celebration, Appalachian State unveiled a new logo on Friday.

The news is just now finally making waves, because look at that fella. This is for real. This is the new logo, effective immediately. His name: "Victory Yosef."

Yosef!

"The excitement that Victory Yosef has generated among our students, alumni and fans since we introduced it as a throwback logo last fall has been overwhelming," Mountaineers director of athletics Charlie Cobb said in a statement. "Due to its popularity, it only made sense to make Victory Yosef a permanent part of our branding. We hope that it endures as a recognizable mark of Appalachian athletics for years to come."

"Traditional logos with strong mascots are hot in the market right now and we are excited that Appalachian State has chosen to permanently introduce the Victory Yosef logo to its official logo library," Lewis Hardy, president and CEO of Licensing Resource Group, said.

And I'm going to use "hot in the market right now" at least through New Year's.

The school notes the "Yosef Head," which had been App. State's logo for 14 years, is now out. Here's the side-by-side comparison.
