WOW!  What a game!  What a finish!  It was a game befitting two teams that played so well to get here.  It wouldn't have been right of one of these teams to take tonight.

The ACC wins the conference record rate with a 19-7 clip, despite the loss by the Tar Heels tonight.  That just edges out the Big East at 9-4.

The Big East won what matters though.  What a great boost for the refurbished league.  Big East commissioner said after the game that winning this championship was "always the goal" of the new league, but she was surprised it came so soon.

Villanova is just the second two-seed to beat a one for the title.  Louisville beat Duke in 1986 for the only other win in nine tries.

Chris Jenkins' shot to win the game is the second buzzer-beater to win the championship.  The other was, of course, Lorenzo Charles' dunk to give NC State the 1983 title over Houston.

NCAA TOURNAMENT RECORDS BY CONFERENCE

The first record is the league’s record in tournament games. The second record is “upsets”: wins as a lower seed-losses as a higher seed. Teams have to be more than one seed apart to count in the upset record.
