You’ve seen our picks from the college basketball experts and you’ve read most of our analysis on breaking down each Final Four matchup. It’s pretty reliable stuff, if I do say so myself.
But you haven’t fully previewed the Final Four until you’ve seen who the real experts — the puppies from the ‘Tonight Show’ — are picking to win the national title.
On Wednesday night Jimmy Fallon unleashed the cuteness, with eight puppies released from backstage as they raced toward the bowl of their choice with each Final Four team name listed on four separate dishes.
There was an overwhelming winner.
The puppies made their choice perfectly clear: the Oregon Ducks will be the winner of the 2017 national championship, with North Carolina looking like the runner-up (even though the Tar Heels play Oregon on Saturday), and South Carolina getting some love as a respectable third-place finisher. Gonzaga only got love from one puppy, which had already began its meal with North Carolina and South Carolina before getting Gonzaga as a dessert.
That would certainly be a surprising outcome, at least according to the latest Vegas odds. North Carolina and Gonzaga lead the field, followed by Oregon and South Carolina.
The first game of the Final Four tips on Saturday between South Carolina and Gonzaga at 6:09 p.m. ET on CBS, followed by North Carolina and Oregon at 8:49 p.m. ET.
