While Villanova fans were mourning their loss to No. 8 seed Wisconsin on Saturday, other schools were rejoicing.
That’s because, according to SportsLine’s projections, several teams received a significant increase in their chances to reach the Final Four --and win the whole tournament.
Duke, the No. 2 seed in Villanova’s East Region, is the most obvious beneficiary. Gonzaga also benefits, however, as their chances to win their first NCAA title rose from 12.4 percent to 18 percent after Villanova’s loss.
Many other teams also stand to benefit from the huge upset.
