For the first time in program history -- and the sixth meeting between the schools -- Wagner has defeated UConn.

And it did it in Storrs, on UConn's home floor on Friday night. Wagner won 67-58 over the 18th-ranked Huskies, giving college hoops its first upset of the season.

"Absolutely, it is an upset," Wagner coach Bashir Mason said on SNY afterward.

The Huskies shot 36 percent and very much looked like a team searching for itself. Failing to crack 60 points on your home floor against an NEC team -- while shooting 35 percent from the floor and not hitting the glass? At least Huskies coach Kevin Ollie truly understands how much work needs to be done.

UConn sophomore guard Jalen Adams, who could blossom into an all-league type of player this season, had just nine points of 4-of-15 shooting. Terry Larrier, a transfer by way of VCU, was the only consistent present for UConn on Friday night. Huskies fans have to be really happy with Larrier now being in the lineup. He had 19 points, six boards and was active throughout.

Wagner's Mike Aaman led his team with 15 points and nine boards. Remember, Wagner fell on its home floor in March in the NEC title game. The Seahawks are probably going to be the best team in the NEC this year. This is the type of win that could catapult them to a 15 seed. Remember the name.

UConn has to get right over the weekend. It welcomes Northeastern on Monday night.
