Some Kentucky fans have threatened to kill referee John Higgins.

Do they have a point?

Or are they just bananas?

Matt Norlander and I discussed that near the top of this Eye on College Basketball podcast -- but only after discussing Phoenix as a Final Four site and Memphis as a Regional site. Then we turned our attention to the way coaches handle so-called foul trouble. My point: Most college coaches fail to maximize the number of minutes their best players play because they sit them too much with what they perceive to be “foul trouble.” The way John Calipari handled Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox in the Elite Eight loss to North Carolina is a perfect example. Neither played as many minutes as they normally play despite the fact that neither actually fouled out.

So I ranted about that for a while.

Then we closed with our postseason awards.

  • Player of the Year: Frank Mason (Kansas)
  • Freshman of the Year: Lonzo Ball (UCLA)
  • Coach of the Year: Mark Few (Gonzaga)

And our First Team All-Americans are ...

  • Lonzo Ball (UCLA)
  • Frank Mason (Kansas)
  • Josh Hart (Villanova)
  • Sindarius Thornwell (South Carolina)
  • Caleb Swanigan (Purdue)

We explained in this podcast. Spent a lot of time on Mason and Thornwell.
