Ahead of one of Ohio State's summer football camps, the Buckeyes' official Twitter account on Tuesday released pictures of Tim Tebow, a former Florida great, along with a quote with him praising Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.

What's not clear is whether Tebow signed off on the use of his image for the tweet. If he did, he willingly used his #brand to promote a competing school for recruiting purposes. If not, Ohio State just used a player who helped beat the Buckeyes in a national title game to promote itself, the legality of which is intriguing to say the least.

But should either scenario be a big deal for Florida fans? For those who care about competing in recruiting, absolutely. Tebow is one of the program's all-time greats. He led the Gators to one national championship, participated in another and won a Heisman Trophy. His statue is out front of the football stadium. And he's being used to promote another program led by the head coach who left Florida high and dry.

Should it be a big deal, though? Not really. If anything, it speaks to a larger point about the relationships between players and coaches rather than players and programs. Ohio State's use of Tebow's image instead of, say, Braxton Miller or Ezekiel Elliott or Troy Smith or any number of Buckeye greats is, in a word, "different," but it's important to know the relationship between Tebow and Meyer runs deep.

One thing that helps explain the context of this situation is the full quote from Ohio State's tweet, courtesy of CantonRep. Below, Tebow explained how he chose Florida and Meyer's influence on him during the recruiting process:

'Really, Florida wasn't really in the picture until they hired him,' Tebow said. 'He single-handedly worked harder than any other coach to recruit me, and he was so passionate about it. 'The stuff that he would say, you could see in his eyes there was something special in him and in his heart. He believed in me, and he made me believe in myself even more. He would say, 'We can do this. We can win a national championship. You come here and we'll do it.''

Tebow committed to Florida, but he really committed to Meyer. Tebow is hardly unique in that sense. Recruits commit to coaches all the time because of the bond they form. Tebow has even spoken to a Ohio State recruit before. (Unintentionally violating NCAA rules, mind you, but he was hanging out with Meyer when the coach happened to be talking to a recruit.)

Granted, not every former player appears on a recruiting tool, but if Florida fans want to pick a bone here, do it with Ohio State, not Tebow.

After all, Tebow can be proud of his Florida days (he is) and still be bound to Meyer. Those things aren't mutually exclusive. It may anger some Florida fans in the process, but this would be yet another example that players rarely view their time in college through the same lens as those in the stands.
