FCS powerhouse North Dakota State took down No. 13 Iowa in Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City on Saturday afternoon on a 37-yard field goal as time expired to win 23-21.

North Dakota State took a risk with just over three minutes to play by going for a two-point conversion to take a one-point lead after a touchdown, it but failed to convert. The Bison defense held strong, however, forcing a three-and-out from Iowa.

Once regaining possession, NDSU quarterback Easton Stick took off for a 29-yard gain to get into Iowa territory. The Bison then ran the ball down to the Iowa 20 until the clock had five seconds on it, giving kicker Cam Pederson a chance to sneak the game-winning 37-yard field goal inside the right upright as time expired.

This wasn't a fluke victory and the Bison are not your typical FCS program as they have won five consecutive FCS national championships since 2011. This win over Iowa was the Bison's sixth win over an FBS team since 2010, but first over an AP Top 25 team. The Bison had previously defeated Colorado State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Minnesota and Kansas.

The Bison outgained Iowa in yards 341 to 213 by dominating the Hawkeyes on the ground (239 yards compared to just 34). King Frazier led the Bison with 16 carries for 99 yards and one touchdown, while Stick had 124 passing yards with a touchdown and interception.

North Dakota State simply did a better job being physical with a team known for physicality, and in the end the team that played better on Saturday afternoon won.

At some point, FBS programs are going to wise up and stop scheduling North Dakota State, because it's just asking to get humiliated on your home turf. The Bison always show up in the mood and play a grinding, physical style that will test even the best teams.

Not only that, those FBS teams have to pay for their losses. Prior to Saturday's game, the Bison collected $1.675 million in payouts. After beating Iowa, that number has gone up to $2.175 million.

For those wondering who could be the Bison's next victims, North Dakota State won't play an FBS opponent in 2017 -- the Bison do face another FCS power in Eastern Washington -- and don't have any FBS opponents on the 2018 or 2019 schedules yet. However, the Oregon Ducks will bring the Bison into Eugene in 2020, and while that's four years away, the Ducks better be ready or they'll get added to the Bison's list of conquered FBS opponents.
