Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett returned to the field for the first time since being cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated on Halloween. Barrett missed Ohio State's game against Minnesota before returning to his role as a starter against Illinois.

Following Ohio State's 28-3 win Saturday, Barrett spoke publicly about his arrest.

"What I have to say about that is I am truly sorry for my actions," Barrett told reporters following the game, via Cleveland.com. "I know that the main thing about it is I wasn't thinking really about my position here at Ohio State. I faced the consequences and that's going to be a long-term thing I'm going to deal with.

"I'm moving forward. Like I said, I extremely apologize to Buckeye Nation. I never want to hurt Ohio State (with) what it's done for me as a person and also as a player. It was just a selfish act and that's it."

Barrett didn't have a great game against Illinois, but he was effective, throwing for 150 yards and rushing for another 74 while totaling two touchdowns.

He pleaded guilty to the charges against and had his license suspended for 180 days. Barrett also must enter a three-day alcohol education program and pay a $400 fine.
