Ohio State graded out with one of the best pass defenses in the nation, thanks in part to All-American caliber of play from Malik Hooker. Draft eligible but a redshirt sophomore, Hooker announced Monday that he's off to the 2017 NFL Draft.

Hooker was a unanimous All-American and led Ohio State's absurd string of interceptions returned for a touchdown (seven) with three pick-sixes on the season. In total, Hooker had seven interceptions, highlighted by this incredible display of range and athleticism against Clemson in the 31-0 Fiesta Bowl semifinal loss Saturday night.

Hooker's emergence in 2016 and early entry will likely make him a fast-riser on draft boards as teams turn their attention to the offseason. Even as a sophomore, Hooker was noticeably better than most players in the country at his position. Ohio State, of course, recruits to this and shouldn't be surprised, readying another set of future NFL Draft picks to take over after the departure of Hooker and others.
