PHOTO: Ragin' Cajuns to honor artist with 'Blue Dog' helmet decal
Louisiana-Lafayette is jazzing up their New Orleans Bowl helmets with a tribute to the late George Rodrigue.
You may not know the name George Rodrigue, but it's more likely you're familiar with his trademark "Blue Dog" paintings that have become an artistic symbol of his native Louisiana. Rodrigue died Dec. 14 at the age of 69 after a fight with cancer, and via nola.com reporter Andrew Lopez, Louisiana-Lafayette's Ragin' Cajuns will honor Rodrigue with a special Blue Dog helmet decal to be worn during Saturday's all-Louisiana New Orleans Bowl against Tulane:
The ULL fleur-de-lis on the dog sweater is a nice touch. Between that decal and the New Orleans Bowl's incredible MVP trophy, there may not be any bowl this season where the overall helmet coolness level is any higher.
