PHOTO: The New Orleans Bowl MVP trophy is wonderful
It's so much better than another plaque, plate, or normal trophy.
So, which would you prefer if you won the New Orleans Bowl MVP: some sort of plate or plaque, another trophy of a golden football player like the participation trophy you got in fourth-grade peewee, or this?
"They came to me with the concept and said 'Let's do something totally different'," said Seither. "I thought it was a great idea. I thought we should build it around the New Orleans Bowl logos" ...
Seither started with a new modern football helmet and painted it much like he would a canvas in colors of green, gold and purple, reminiscent of Mardi Gras. There is also the image of the Superdome and a Bourbon Street lamp post on the top of the helmet and the 'MVP' letters on the visor in a burst of colors.
"I tried to treat it just like a painting or a canvas and I didn't let anything inhibit me," said Seither. "As you look at the detail, that's the detail I would have gotten on a painting. People are going nuts over it. I think people relate to a football helmet. It gets people going."
We don't blame those people at all. Let's also hope that one of those people is Terrance Broadway -- the Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback won New Orleans Bowl MVP honors after completing 21-of-32 passes for 317 yards and a touchdown while adding 108 yards and another score on the ground.
