Athletics starter Jesse Chavez failed to pick up a win for the fourth straight outing, as he allowed three runs on six hits over six innings in a 4-0 loss to the Rangers on Friday. Chavez walked one and struck out six, but got no support from his offense as Colby Lewis was nearly perfect on the other side.

All three runs against Chavez (7-15, 4.18 ERA) came in the very first inning. After that he was very sharp, retiring the final eight men he faced.
