Indians designate Robert Whitenack for assignment

The Indians have designated right-hander Robert Whitenack for assignment. Whitenack was claimed by the Indians Wednesday but was bumped to make room for catcher Omir Santos on the 40-man roster.

Whitenack has not appeared in a minor-league game this season and went 1-6 with a 5.96 ERA in 15 starts at High-A Daytona last year.
