Augustin was limited to seven points (2-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two assists, one rebound and one steal across 19 minutes in Thursday's 95-94 loss to the Grizzlies. Augustin has started at point guard in the last three contests, but with averages of 8.3 points, 4.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 three-pointers and 1.0 steal in 23.0 minutes per game in that span, he hasn't really given fantasy owners reason to run to the waiver wire to add him. Morever, he's been outpaced in playing time by Elfrid Payton in those contests, so it appears Augustin is being treated as the starter in name only.
Augustin will start at point guard Tuesday against San Antonio, John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com reports. Augustin will claim the starting point position for the second straight game after starting Sunday's loss against the Bucks. The point guard saw a slightly higher number of minutes than usual during his start against Milwaukee, recording 25 minutes with 11 points, five assists, and two rebounds.
Augustin will start at point guard for Sunday's outing versus the Bucks, John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com reports. The Magic are going with an altered lineup Sunday, starting the likes of Augustin, Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, Serge Ibaka and Bismack Biyombo. Augustin enters the lineup at the expense of Elfrid Payton, as coach Frank Vogel wanted to get a more consistent shooter in the starting lineup with Jeff Green (back) not available. That said, Augustin should see a slight uptick in minutes after averaging 20.4 over his last 10 games. However, it wouldn't be surprising if he returned to the bench as soon as Tuesday's game against the Spurs.
Augustin scored 18 points (6-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT) while adding six assists and two rebounds in 30 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 95-87 win over the Mavericks. He scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Magic to a come-from-behind victory, exploiting Dallas rookie Jonathan Gibson off the dribble time and again. The 30 minutes were a season high for Augustin, as Orlando coach Frank Vogel stuck with the hot hand down the stretch at point guard, but on most nights Augustin will be firmly behind Elfrid Payton in the pecking order.
Augustin recorded a season-high 19 points (6-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT) and three assists across 24 minutes in Friday's 87-74 loss to the Jazz. With the Magic's starting lineup struggling to generate offense Friday evening, coach Frank Vogel turned to Augustin to provide the team's attack with a lift, and the veteran delivered. The 29-year-old has only topped double-digit points in three of the Magic's nine games, but he'll continue to earn a sizable workload with the second unit thanks to his three-point shooting, an area where the team is sorely lacking. Augustin has knocked down at least one three-pointer in every game since the season opener.
