The Mavericks waived center Bernard James, forward Ivan Johnson and guard Doron Lamb Saturday. James and Lamb saw limited action in Friday's preseason finale, while Johnson didn't log any playing time.
The Mavericks announced the signing of forward Ivan Johnson Tuesday, after he spent a season playing in China. Johnson was last in the NBA when he spent two seasons with the Hawks. He receives an unguaranteed deal from the Mavericks for training camp, after averaging 6.5 points per game over his two seasons in Atlanta.
The Clippers recently worked out former Hawks power forward Ivan Johnson and are expected to sign him to a 10-day contract, according to a report from ESPN on Thursday. Johnson spent this season in China playing for Zhejiang CB, averaging 25.8 points and 10.2 rebounds through 25 games.
Hawks forward Ivan Johnson turned in one of his more complete stat lines of the season during Saturday's contest against the Magic. Johnson, who earned his second straight start with Al Horford dealing with an illness, matched his career high by finishing with 21 points. He went 7 of 14 from the field in the 97-88 win and also added 10 rebounds, three steals, one assist and a block to his stat line, while logging 34 minutes of game action.
