    • Powell released by Spurs

News: The Spurs waived forward Josh Powell on Saturday. Powell spent some time playing in China last year.
Analysis: Powell was looking to land a backup gig with the Spurs but will have to look elsewhere. He has low-end Fantasy value.
    • Powell commits to China for 2011-12

News: F Josh Powell signed a contract to play with a team in China during the upcoming season. Due to the rules set in place by the Chinese Basketball Association, Powell will not be eligible to play in the NBA this upcoming season.
Analysis: Unlike leagues in Europe, the Chinese Basketball Association has put in place limitations for players who would like to ride the lockout out in China. If you go to China, you have to commit to playing the upcoming season there. Powell was unlikely to have any Fantasy appeal this season anyway, but his value has skyrocketed if you play in any CBA Fantasy leagues.
    • Powell praying, staying positive

News: After his arrest prior to Saturday's game for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, Hawks forward Josh Powell wouldn't comment on the matter in practice Monday. However, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports he plans to release a statement later on. Powell did offer his state of mind. "It's good, man," he said. "I've done a lot of praying. I'm trying to maintain a positive mind. I appreciate all the people that have been supportive in this situation."
Analysis: Powell is still awaiting the repercussions for his actions following the bone-head move. But only time will tell. As for his Fantasy value, he really doesn't have much. Averaging 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds on the season, he has no use for Fantasy owners unless the team suffers a round of injuries. Ignore him in all formats.
    • Powell arrested outside Phillips Arena

News: Hawks forward Josh Powell was arrested before Saturday night's game against the Blazers outside Phillips Arena after police say he repeatedly refused to move his car that was blocking an ambulance. Powell was charged with with failure to obey an authorized officer directing traffic, failure to yield to emergency equipment and obstruction, Atlanta Police spokesman Curtis Davenport told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "The officer approached Mr. Powell's vehicle and told him numerous times to go straight through the intersection ... [he] refused and was placed under arrest," Davenport said. Powell did not dress against Portland.
Analysis: So Powell was apparently arrested for refusing to move his car for an ambulance, which seems hard to even imagine. He now will have to await whatever repercussions stem as a result of his arrest from the police department, the Hawks and maybe even the NBA if the league decides to get involved. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor the situation to see what the fallout from the incident will be. Powell is averaging just 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds on the season and can be ignored in all Fantasy formats anyway.
    • Powell not much of a factor

News: Hawks F Josh Powell hasn't been much of a Fantasy contributor through the first half of the season. Powell has appeared in 41 of Atlanta's 55 games this season but has only seen action in four of the club's last 10 contests. He averaged a season-high 13.5 minutes during November and scored a season-high 16 points in a win over Memphis back in early January.
Analysis: Powell got some decent run back in the early stages of the season but has seen his minutes decline as the season has progressed. The veteran forward is only seeing around six minutes per contest in the month of February and has only been getting on the court during garbage time. Powell can be decent cheap source for rebounds when he sees decent minutes, but that hasn't been the case thus far. Unless he sees a serious spike in playing time, Powell can continue to be ignored in the majority of Fantasy leagues heading into the second half of the season.
