News: Viktor Stalberg went plus-2 with an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 Opening Night win over Chicago.
Analysis: The team got a pleasant surprise from Viktor Stalberg as well as linemates J.T. Miller and Oscar Lindberg, as the trio combined for a goal and three assists. While we're not exactly recommending Stalberg will continue to click at a point-per-game pace, he's worth a gander in deeper formats.

News: Viktor Stalberg said on Wednesday that he's looking to fill the third-line spot vacated by Carl Hagelin, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.

In 25 regular season games for Nashville last season, Stalberg had two goals and eight assists, but turned in a strong effort in the playoffs, contributing a goal and two assists in Nashville's six playoff games. He'll have to fight for a roster spot in training camp, but Stalberg's greater amount of NHL experience may give him an edge over some of his fellow competitors.

With the Rangers, he'll look to re-ignite his productivity, though his chances of enjoying a fantasy resurgence hinge largely upon whom he ends up skating with as a Ranger.

News: Viktor Stalberg was placed on unconditional waivers Monday for the purpose of a buyout, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
Analysis: After strong seasons with the Blackhawks in 2011-12 and 2012-13, Viktor Stalberg signed a four-year, $12 million contract with Nashville, but he didn't see his production match his lofty salary obligations. The 29-year-old winger tallied just 10 points in 25 games last season -- both career lows -- while being shuttled between Nashville and AHL Milwaukee.

News: Viktor Stalberg cleared waivers on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: As expected, Viktor Stalberg went unclaimed in large part due to his $3 million cap hit. He's been a bit of a disappointment since signing with the Predators in July 2013, and is unlikely to occupy a meaningful role for the team in 2015-16.

  • Preds' Stalberg Notches Assist In Loss To Avs

News: Viktor Stalberg recorded an assist during Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Colorado. It was his 10th point of the season, and sixth in 12 games since being recalled from AHL Milwaukee in early March.
Analysis: Viktor Stalberg has found himself a healthy scratch more often than not this season; however, given the secondary scoring he's currently providing, he should continue to see a regular spot in the Preds' lineup for the remainder of the season and into the playoffs. For now, he continues to skate on the Preds' third line with Matt Cullen and Calle Jarnkrok.

Though his participation was enough for the Predators to bring him along on the trip, there's no guarantee that he'll be cleared to play in time for Thursday's game. With Matt Cullen also ailing with a lower-body injury, the Predators will continue to carry Viktor Arvidsson and Kevin Fiala as extra forwards.
