A day after announcing it had signed world No. 2 Rory McIlroy, TaylorMade announced on Wednesday that its parent company Adidas sold it off to investor KPS Capital Partners.

"TaylorMade is a leading global golf brand with an exceptionally strong market position," CEO of Adidas Kasper Rorsted said in a statement. "We would like to thank all TaylorMade employees for their many contributions to our company and wish them all the best for a successful future under their new ownership."

TaylorMade now has McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm. All six are ranked in the top 12 in the world. It also has Tiger Woods as a staffer even though we don't really know when we will see him again.

Adidas had been trying to offload TaylorMade for a long time, and it finally found a buyer. We have seen the unbundling of some TaylorMade-Adidas golfers in the recent years -- most notably Day who signed a contract with Nike to wear apparel and shoes at the beginning of 2017.

As recently as 2015, TaylorMade's annual revenue was over $1 billion. Adams Golf and Ashworth were also included in the sale to KPS.
