Tiger Woods was scheduled to return to the PGA Tour at 2016-17 season opener at the Safeway Open last week, but withdrew from the tournament on Monday, citing that his game wasn't ready to compete.

That withdrawal also led him to say he will not play at the Turkish Airlines Open, putting the date of his return in serious doubt. Jason Day said recently that he didn't expect Woods to be back until 2017, but Tiger is adamant that he will play before the end of the year.

Woods went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday and told the host that he will be at his Hero World Challenge and playing on Dec. 7.

"I'll be there," said Woods. "I'm playing."

"You're going to play?" asked Colbert.

"I'll be there playing," said Woods.

That means Woods will have a month and a half to figure out whatever it was with his game that kept him from wanting to step out on the course in Napa at the Safeway. Some have wondered if it's more of a mental block than a physical issue for Woods, and playing at his event in the Bahamas -- which is an 18-player field -- might be a more comfortable way for him to get back onto the course in competitive action than in a full-field event.
