IMPORTANT: Minor-league team may offer hot dog-flavored cocktail
Like hot dogs? Like drinking? Pressed for time? You may be in luck.
Over at Maury Brown's Biz of Baseball we learn that an unnamed minor-league team of a decidedly enterprising nature may offer for paid consumption the "Frank Collins," which is -- and what follows will reveal that everything you know is wrong -- a hot dog-flavored cocktail.
Here, courtesy of Mr. Brown, is the sky-scraping recipe ...
1.5 oz gin (or any spirit you have)
1.5 oz frank consommé
3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
2 oz beer to top
hot dog spear (for garnish)
Add all but the beer to a shaker with ice, shake to chill and strain into a Collins glass over fresh ice. Top with beer and garnish with a hot dog spear that has been cooked or not. It doesn't matter.
Note: To make the frank consommé, cook several hot dogs in boiling water. Reserve the water.
Related: There exists something called "frank consommé." Frank consommé! Hot dog spear! Cooked! Or not!
Possibly an April Fool's joke? We don't particularly care!
Finally, the image of said cocktail and the full breadth of its implications ...
It is not a veriable fact but it is strongly suspected that wieners and liquor form the foundational rung of the FDA food pyramid, so by all means consume what you see above without hesitation or ceasing, ideally at the unnamed minor-league ballpark of note.
